Hey all,
I recently got the new iPhone and as I've spent a lot of time messing around with itunes and loading every thing on to the phone (never had an iPod before) I've realised that for me CD's are now redundant (for me).
So I've decided to fit a new double din player that comes with an iPod/Phone connection port or a USB port to allow me to plug n play. Thinking of going with the m http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/pioneer ... 00dvd.html (http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/pioneer-avh-p3100dvd.html) m
Whilst doing this I'm also going to fit an active sub-woofer as well. Nothing too over the top. I was thinking of going for an active sub similar to the following m http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/ground- ... 00act.html (http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/ground-zero-gzub-800act.html) m to sit under the passenger seat.
By positioning the sub beneath the passenger seat, am I going to noticeably be able to hear/feel that the sub is, well, there? As opposed to it being an all round sound, is it going to be noticeably on the left... this is proving hard to explain but hopefully you'll understand my ramblings!? s:P :P s:P Ideally id like a fairly "central sound". Not have my left ear battered to pieces...
Alternatively, to those that have had installs in the rear bins, have you noticed much rattling from the bins themselves? My main concern with putting a sub in there would be that the bin doors would rattle like all hell.
Think that's it for now – opinions and advice greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Jim
there is very little space under the seat, so make sure you get measurements before you buy. If you can find one to fit under there then great, would not take up any storage space and is out of view from theiving scum.
using the rear bins is ok you can push more power as well from them as you dont have to look at an active sub. however depending on the install in the bins will say how much power you can use. i've installed a 12" sub central in the rear with a 6 x 9 either side. i did remove the doors and built a box to suit the gap. this sounds central and has a bit of base enough to feel without blowing your head off s:mrgreen:  s:mrgreen: the problem you might find with under the seat is that it will be to one side also i dont think there will be enough clearance under the seat and you might burn the amp out as it could over heat as it will be covered.
good luck with the build
Look in the Group Buy section, they are doing something for the under dash sub - I own one of these and it would have to be prised out of my fingers before I would let it go, completely out of the way so no loss of space and sounds the dogs danglies..
concerning direction with sub woofers, I believe you can't tell where base is coming from. This is why home audio setups only use one sub woofer that is just needs to be placed somewhere in the room and 5 directional speakers for the mid and high range. Basically I don't think you need to worry too much about hearing it wherever you put it.

correct - bass is supposed to be undirectional so you can't tell where it's coming from...
