Title: Autoleads facia adaptor.
Post by: The Lum on December 25, 2009, 10:57
Xmas morning at 8.30am I took it out to the car to fit and what a pain in the ass that kit is. Now not to blow my own trumpet but I would consider myself very competent when it comes to stereo fitting having spent 5 years getting paid to do it. Although I got it to fit and it looks pretty good once in it really was a big faff to snap all the unused bits off and file down.

My advice would be if you can get a kit that's a direct fit rather than one that although designed for the car it's also made to fit a few other toyotas.

Hi,

I agree....I actually broke a section of the  adapter when I was fitting the single din, a right unecessary PITA.

Anyway, have a great Christmas and a superb 2010.

Took me half an hour, for some reason I couldn't get it to go the right way up, so put it in upside down and it fitted like a glove. The plastic tabs are a bit shitty, but when you weigh up the cost of din tray, brackets, surround from toyota you could buy 4-5 of those  autolead ones from ebay.

Is this the one that says to "break off all tabs EXCEPT C"..?

I have one of these: not yet fitted, but "getting round to it"   s:wink:  s:wink:

I, too, would say I'm good at this sort of stuff, but it seems a bit "flimsy / brittle" to me..?  Also, there is a lot of plastic-to-plastic "clipped" together: I wonder if this will start squeaking annoyingly in the heat of summer.....?  Doesn't look like "automotive-grade" plastic to me, IYSWIM...?   s:D :D s:D

I have already fitted my single-DIN to the top of the double-DIN hole, and am about to fab a fascia plate to go below it...I may fit some switches to this plate...dunno......?

I've just fitted one of these in my facelift car. I think I cut off more than I left on.

It wouldn't fit because the pillars aren't straight where the screws go, and there's an indent about halfway up. And one of the 'C' tabs broke off as well  s:( :( s:(  Still, it's in and the new stereo sounds great  s:) :) s:)
