I read the manual but it doesn't show this switch. The little red button between the heater and the steering wheel see pic

It has wires going to it so it does something. Ejector seat? s:D :D s:D
Ah, it's not a switch .... it's the indicator to show the alarm is active.

.... runs outside into the dark and hey presto its flashing. Weird as it doesn't look like any type of bulb or LED indicator I've ever seen.
What's the little flashing light at the bottom of the centre heating dial then? I'm pretty sure I've see a flashing light there as well. s:? :? s:?
immobilsor, its factory fit, alarm is port of entry fit
What's that to the right of the alarm indicator? I've not seen one of those before?

Judging by the size of it those crafty Japanese designers knew all us Roadster owners would be skint, or either become skint once modifying began s:lol:  s:lol: Turbo anybody s:flame: :flame: s:flame:
I guess the ease by which it detaches from the dash must be in case you want to take all that money with you when you leave the car s:wink:  s:wink:

really!! I've actually just made a trip to the carpark at work to check this feature having always wondered what the hell its for! s:lol:  s:lol:
Mine has an alarm, but not that light - is it a Facelift-only light?

I don't think so - mine's a pre-facelift & its's got both the pictured light and the light by the heater knobs
According to my post face lift manual, that switch to the right of the alarm is 'traction control off and on'. This could of course be bollocks. Still trying to exchange my post face lift manual for a pre face lift one s:D :D s:D

Ooo I have a coin tray on mine (but I put it the other side near the door because my CD Player control and fog light switch are where yours is), should I let the insurance company know because mine is a pre-facelift s:oops:  s:oops:

That might be wrong, the traction control on/off button is probably next to the launch control!

That's what it is if you have a post-facelift SMT. Pre-facelift SMTs did not have traction control fitted.

It comes from factory in all EU models, since 2000, way before the facelift.

Maybe your alarm installers remove it between the factory and dealer, if you didn't have it? Did you have all the blanks filled in the non-facelift version then?
There are just two blanking plates to the left of the steering wheel on my 02 SMT
I'm a 51 plate and have a coin tray, but to be fair to call it a 'tray' is a bit of an exaggeration

FYi these blanking spaces had nothing in them in my 2001 preface lift.
I've now inserted the OEM heated seat switches in these spaces.
