Title: MR2 tax disc holders - a question?
Post by: Anonymous on April 15, 2004, 18:50
I've got my lovely lovely tax disc holder now and have two problems, am hoping that one of you kind folks can assist...

1) still haven't got the car back from repair bods   s:cry:  s:cry:   - I know you can't help with this one, just wanted to moan. Thanks for listening.

2) How on earth do I fix the thing to my windscreen? All it came with was the allen key to open it. Am I missing something?   s:oops:  s:oops:

TIA

They usually come with some clear sticky pads that you put onto it to fix it to the windscreen.

there should be some clear adhesive sticky stuff(sorry dont know the proper name) that you fix the holder to the screen with. the best way to describe it is it looks like dry glue but very tacky, it normal comes in a strip so you can break off how ever much is required.

thanks for this fellas - have just turned the jiffy bag inside out and there's definitely nothing in it. Looks like a trip to the big H then... disguise time methinks. Or maybe I'll try B & Q   s:wink:  s:wink:

cheers lads!

Make sure that you get the spacer thing as well, I use mine at the top of the holder otherwise it won't fit properly.

When you screw the back on, put a cloth or something underneath, incase you drop the screws (wish somebody had told me this---I need two screws now!   s:oops:  s:oops:  )

Yeah, I found that it took 5 mins to fit, and takes half and hour to change the flipping disc now   s:oops:  s:oops:

Mine kept falling off, no matter how dry &  clean it was, with a good glass temperature, pushing hard against the windscreen for a long old time, go out to the car the next day, bang, on the floor, where it's been for the last 6 months!
When i find my last bunch of stickies (which will be when i go and get them from where i know they are!  i.e. lazy arse) I'm gonna go unorthodox and stick it on my centre flip-up compartment lid, probably, if it looks ok.

But will make it harder for any scheming scumbag to nick it quickly if you leave it with the top down. That is always my worry  s:? :? s:?
