Hi, im new to this forum and looking for some advice. Im looking to buy a used MR2 sometime soon and have a budget between £10,000 and £11,000. If possible i would like to pick one up with lowish mileage and would like a hardtop and Leather as well. Firstly, do you think i could pick up a nice condition 2 within that price range with that spec? Secondly, is there anything i should be aware of before buying a 2, such as potential problems etc? I have loved these cars for years and ideally i would like a silver or black one.

I think you will struggle to pick up a used '2 with low mileage for 10-11K. Don't know if anyone on here agrees or not? s:? :? s:?
An 02 car with 20-30K on the clock will probably set you back around 13-14K I think.

Agreed, 11k won't buy much, and certainly not a recent car with leather / HT. It may be worth your while lookinf at Jap imports, as you may get something decent for your money that way, but I think you will really struggle finding a UK car.
As for potential problems, have a poke around in the Maintenance forum, there is stacks of info.
You MAY be able to pick one up without the HT & add that later though. I paid £11850 for a 51 plate with 10K on in July last year with leather but no HT (which I put on in Feb)
Keep your eyes open 'cos you can always add on the bits later that you can't afford right now s:D :D s:D
you should be able to find one around £10,500 - £11,000 - maybe not with leather and hardtop. i once saw a UK spec X reg with 23,000 miles WITH a hardtop up for £11,000 TRADE. i just missed out on buying it. you will struggle to find one with a hardtop with your budget, unless your prepared to wait while til one eventually turns up...
There are some available but they tend to sell quickly.
I saw a silver x reg with 30k miles and black leather for £11000 and a black Y reg with 20k miles, leather and hardtop still in warranty for £12250 (sold for £12500 a few hours after i saw it)
now that were into spring, and the odd occasional sunny days are here, you're going to find it even harder to get one at a good price. i expect they'll be selling like hot cakes s:) :) s:)
Exactly, i just bought mine and the seller almost changed their mind at the last minute due to the summer coming up.
It took me a good few weeks of finding autotrader to find a car that was what i wanted, at the right price and not sold before i rang up.
I put my 2000 with A/C into Parkers the other day, just for curiosity. Got 24K on the clock, no hard top no leather and it came up with just over 11K to sell!!! Go figure? s:? :? s:?
I know Glasses is the one properly to use, but Parkers gives a "clue" to the value and I was quite pleasantly suprised.......
