Title: MOT & no-CAT ?...
Post by: mph on April 21, 2004, 19:56
Yep my car is coming up three years old (damn - out of warrantee  s:!: :!: s:!: ) so it's MOT time  s:? :? s:?

So, can a turbocharged engine with no CAT pass emissions  s:?: :?: s:?:

Short answer: yes   s:D :D s:D

Long answer: yes but...   s:arrow:  s:arrow:

...the standard CO test is fine, however level of hydrocarbons is more of a problem. For our car, the limit is 200 (something, whatever they are). Without tweaking the car produced 212.   s:( :( s:(  After various fiddling, kicking and hitting, pulling the master O2 sensor, waiting the main ECU to get really upset, then tweaking the aftermarket ECU does the job to reduce the emissions to happy environment level. Sorted  s:!: :!: s:!:
