Title: Need a multi vehicle code reader
Post by: josh279 on January 27, 2012, 21:51
Really need a hand on this one, I need  a code reader that can do standard obdII as on the MR2 and older vehicles like a 1999 petrol Vectra B and a 1999 petrol Merc W210.  This is all as my brother's and dad's cars have both decided to throw CEL and run rough and If I'm going to get one, I want one that I can use as well.  None of us want to ask any mechanics we know if we can swipe a code reader again as running out of favours.

There is a chance that the Merc will be OBDII, but I doubt it as my old 1997 Merc had the most bizarre diagnostic socket I have ever seen.  The Vectra definitely isn't, it's got vauxhalls useless ALDL (may as well be ALDI or LIDL) 16 pin socket.

Happy to spend upto around £200, but ideally less.

Any help is seriously appreciated as I have just spent hours searching the internet for something that can do all of them and I'm now losing the will to live.   s:crazyeyes:  s:crazyeyes:

Quick edit:

meant to say found this (http://stores.channeladvisor.com/Phoenix-Trading-Company/Items/mtsc?&caSKU=mtsc&caTitle=SNAP-ON%20EuroCheck%20MTSC25%203-in-1%20Scan/Reset%20System%20NEW!) one, do you reckon it'll work for all 3?

You may have a problem because I don't think OBD11 was compulsory before about 2002 (could be wrong on the date). However, a lot of cars were compatable before that date. My 1999 Z3 is but my 1999 Saab is not so it's pot luck really.
