What process did you use to prep them like that?
Quote from: "dick2ski"What process did you use to prep them like that?

I do like the t sports actually. It took me a minute to see why the front of yours looks so good...no number plate! Makes a big difference. Badge suits the look too overall
daft question ^.^ ... but is it a legal requirement for a number plate on the front of the car? do you get any problems with the pigs?

yeah your meant to have one, you could say it just fell off or you bumper have only just been painted ad its still a bit soft (my favourite answer) the worst too happen is a £60 fine.

Just read that you're a panel beater & sprayer... can you recommend anywhere for a good but reasonably priced paint job for my TRD Stage 1 bodykit?
...and good job on the wheels they're quality.

Looks miles better. Your old suspension looks like it had seen better days too!
Wow that sitting low! Your original springs/dampers/boots certainly look like they'd seen better days. Looks like there's a gap each side of the new units, is there any lateral play in the bolts?
I hope that's just water vapour under your exhaust pipe?
You'd better get your geometry checked out that looks like some serious negative camber on the rear wheels in the last pic?

i duno what you mean bout the play in bolts all mine are ok, and the car hasn't driven much since I've owned it, bout 5 miles and its mostly parked up
I was referring to the difference in the first picture:
There's no gap that's just new painted metal you can see, it's a bit more noticeable in this photo to give you some idea.

I think at that height you will hit most objects in the road.

Having it that low looks fine, but the underside of the car would be severely damaged after a couple of miles where I live! s;) ;) s;)
Looks pretty interesting. s:) :) s:)
Yeah I too like the low height but round my way it would smash the hell out of the underside, a 30mm drop is as far as I dare go and even with that I daren't put the wheels either side of those speed hump islands you get! s:scared: :scared: s:scared:
finally got my new wheel, its a momo s:lol:  s:lol: i promise s;) ;) s;)

Quote from: "PhillRC"can't change my handbrake cables duno how anyone got a clue
Pretty sure you have to drop the fuel tank so not a super easy job that many on here would have done.
Like the look, again way too low for a round my way but looks good s;) ;) s;)
Agreed although I think you can shortcut it by just dropping the tank a little to get access but you need to drop it fully to use all the original Toyota fixing points, well that's what I read somewhere on here anyhow s;) ;) s;)
Just a thought but with your car riding that low can you get a jack under the sill if you should ever get a puncture?
My sisters got a cooper s with something like 18-19" wheels on it and lowered and I know she keeps a length of 3" thick wood in the boot to drive up onto in case she gets a puncture for that very reason s:lol:  s:lol:
right, I've hired the front end up a bit dosnt look much but it don't scrape out of the drive now.

Plastic primer?
PS, I cant believe how far your 2 has come in such a short time. Good effort mate!
Looking good, you still got the Toyosport exhaust on? I picked up one dirt cheap and just fitted it, sounds a lot on the rattly/raspy side around 4000rpm, you got the same with yours? Never heard one before!

Yeah mate i think thats the noise its meant too make, i like it IMO down the revs its quiet and it gets louder when you rev it hard.
been out for a blast again and i agree with you, i'm kinda liking the sudden increase in volume as you put your foot down and the deeper burble lower down the revs, makes up for mine being a pig to fit!
You got a nice looking '2 there, mate.

taken it off again Chris, went for a long drive and once it'd warmed up it sounded awful, no way could I live with the dreadful rattle from it when you booted it, it was way too loud! My advice would be not to risk it, I only paid 60 quid for mine so not a massive loss. Phill might have been lucky with his and got a decent one but I think these Toyosports are a bit of a gamble! s:| :| s:|

ahh lol thanks i was hoping it was something too do with engine power lmao
With the rollover bar are you planning on putting some bracing going rearwards to stablise it? If not I would! If you do roll that will just fall over like a fence in a gale.
Looks a very nice car you have there, great progress! I have very similar plans looks-wise for mine; just got a spare set of wheels to refurb, have suspension arms arriving in a few days, will get 25mm spacers to fill the arches more, and of course some coilovers to drop it as low as I can without messing with the handling or preventing me getting over speedbumps.

not being forced but it would be a nice too see it on the road out side of my house instead of going up my nans too fit something new too it.
Aii suppose but gunna cost you £50, mines going off the road as of 12 tonight for 5 weeks s:( :( s:( unsurance has forced me into it its 1600 to insure it this month how ever next month when i turn 21 its 700, silly for me to insure it now really so get £70 tax back whack 12 months on in november.

Yep, 10-20min job removing rear bumper (fiddly first time you do it) then old ones clip out, new ones clip in-actually swapping old to new takes under 2min literally. Well worth it in my opinion, I really dislike the black plastic on the pre FL 2's, looks cheap I think

I'm back after 2 years, found a cheep clean mrs and couldn't leave it, is there any differences from the uk to jap cars ?
Only difference I know is no LSD in the import cars and a slightly closer ratio gearbox.
ODB2 doesn't work.
Does it have one less 02 sensor?
Nor does OBD2. s:D :D s:D
Quote from: "MilesH"Only difference I know is no LSD in the import cars and a slightly closer ratio gearbox.
mine has lsd
lsd is an optional extra on the mrs, otherwise no post cat o2 odb2 don't work but there is a jap version that does, no immobilizer, has its speedo converted from KPH to MPH that can go wrong, and the stalks are round the other way.
doing all the cheep and free jobs first before i get money for coilovers wheels and tyres

got around to fitting the bc coilovers, these are the best coilovers I've had they are easy to fit and the damping adjustment is very good.

I've started to set the car up for the way i like a car, its starting to point in easier now.
i should have new tyres this week Kumho ecsta KU36 205 50 15 all round, ive got another two oem 6.5j alloys to put on the front for now.
hopefully order a rear ARB by the weekend and also try and hunt some rear camber arms down.
Looking good s:) :) s:) is theat the BC's on a lower setting?
Queue stagger police haha
Good work... As Tomaky alludes to, what makes you go for tyres all the same?
Your car sits really low!!
Quote from: "tomaky"Looking good s:) :) s:) is theat the BC's on a lower setting?

yeah its quite low but clears all speed bumps
Quote from: "Meeerrrk"Good work... As Tomaky alludes to, what makes you go for tyres all the same?

don't want to stagger just trying to get rid of all the understeer i can, when the fronts are skinnier than the rears that happens.
my girlfriends mr2 is about 2 inch or more lower make mine look like a suv
Silver too :-p
Good to know on the clearing bumps. ive got 195 - 205 on the track tyres for a similar reason but thats for track only use.
.
bought some new wheels and tyres
mx5 enkei's are a lot lighter than stock

They fill the arches well. Lots of cleaning needed to keep white s;) ;) s;)
They're off an MX5? The shame.
what is the weight saving? Interesting idea!
I run a square setup too, feels great for the track.
square is the way forward, i went 195-205 wish id gone 205 all around.
Quote from: "tomaky"square is the way forward, i went 195-205 wish id gone 205 all around.
I ran 195 all round, which I felt was plenty for a stock 1zz. With stock PFL wheels 195 looks a nicer fit on the rim to me than 205, and it hardly has the power to need more tyre IMO!
There strictly track tyres i felt the need for the extra bit ofrubber, will have to see if they are still sufficient when i turbo.
I've also had a bucket seat fitted that i forgot about.

about the 599 rsr's, id recommend them to anyone struggling to find a tyre they like on the mr2. 30psi front 28psi rear and I've increased the front neg camber and softened the front by 5 clicks rear by 3 and the car is handling a lot better, anti roll bar next then ill book a trackday
Pretty smart!
I notice you removed the front badge; does it leave holes that you have filled it is it just stuck on?
Quote from: "Meeerrrk"Pretty smart!

I guessed as much s:( :( s:( nice work though
not done much lately apart from order a rear anti roll bar, been messing with the suspension settings ready for track next month.
