Title: Did I just reset my ECU?

I thought I had done it before, by keeping the battery off for some time (several minutes to hour or so), but it never really did a thing.

Now I had the ECU totally off the car for two days and when I put it back it did something that I can only think of as learning the idle. It's some 80F over here and the car idled at 2000rpm till the engine got fully warm. Then it started to slowly creep downwards to 1500rpm and stayed there for a while. Then again it started to go downwards and kept bouncing between 1000-1500rpm for several times. After that it started to creep down towards about 700rpm and again bounced few times between 700-1500rpm. After that it was just fine, like nothing happened...the whole thing took some 5-10 minutes after the engine got to normal temp.

My butt dyno isn't sensitive enough to notice any power gains/losses, but the engine note under full throttle sure changed...

be cool if there was just a reset button on the ECU...   s:roll: :roll: s:roll:

The ECU resets after just 7 minutes.  I know this because i have had to reset the ABS light several times to pass an SVA test.

This however may not be a full reset although I know it does clear all the codes until the problem re-occurs.

Yeah, I know from SC that ~5 minutes clears the error codes  s8) 8) s8)
