Title: ODB-II - DashCommand iPhone App
Post by: carlclarke on June 22, 2012, 23:35
I purchased a WiFi OBD-II reader and installed the DashCommand iPhone app. For anyone who doesn't know about it - the app gives a display of quite a lot of information based on calculations from the OBD-II values. It is not as responsive as a dedicated gauge but it does have a customisable display that can show many gauges. For example I get:

RPM, Speed, Acceleration, Power, Torque, Vacuum, MPG (Instantaneous and averaged over 3 hours), Fuel Flow, Timing, Coolant Temp, Intake Temp, MAF, Fuel Trims, Load, Lambda, Fuel Pressure, Gear Change etc.

To be honest, I am only learning what some of these things mean, I am not an expert. Anyway to help to make the calculations more accurate there is a configuration screen where some values can be entered. I have had a go at this by reading on here and some other sources. My current configuration has a few gaps and of course I could have entered incorrect values as well. So I was thinking, with all of the knowledge on the forum, perhaps some of you could check my values and point me in the right direction for the missing ones. So far I have:

Car Specifications                      Value       Notes
Fuel Tank Capacity                      48 litres
Engine Displacement                     1794 cc
Volumetric Efficiency                   ?           Software finds default
MAF PID                                 ?           Software finds default
MAP PID                                 ?           Software finds default
Lambda (actual) PID                     ?           Software finds default
Tyre Size Specification                 205/50/R15
Final Drive Ratios                      12.39;7.45;5.13;3.79;3.19
Wheel Circumference                     72.5 inches
Curb Weight                             2185 lb
Additional Weight                       ?           Driver, Passenger, Luggage
Drag Coefficients                       0.31
Frontal Area                            18.3 sq ft
Maximum Engine Speed                    7000 rpm
Shift Point                             6500 rpm
Fuel Type                               Gasoline
Tyre Rolling Resistance Coefficient     ?           Bridgestone RE040
Speed Correction                        ?           For inaccurate speedometer
You may need to scroll the CODE: panel above to see all of the values (CODE was the only way to make a tabular format)

Carl.

Please can you let me know the make of the device etc
There are quite a few that mention android compatibility but the only iPhone ones I have found are on American sites and cost over 100 dollars

Sorry, on holiday in other car. But basically it was a cheap eBay from China. Less than £20 IIRC .

Revival!!

Has anybody managed to get the complete set of settings for DashCmd?

I've been using DashCmd for a while on other cars, love it.

Dont forget the ratios are different between the MR-S and UK spec cars so the calculated gear number might need some tweaking.

Hello  s:) :) s:)

Has anyone manage to get a definitive list together of the values like Volumetric Efficiency, etc for an app like Torque?

Interesting, I was wondering if this displayed mpg and it does. I might consider investing in one now. Thanks for the info guys.
