Driving through Stansted on my way home yesterday and got a puncture. Fitted the space saver in a pub carpark and went to ATC to get a new tyre fitted. They quoted me £200 for the rear tyre and it would take 5 weeks to get it. I thought no chance! I went to Hills of Bishop's Stortford and they also quoted me the same and refered me to Bishop's Stortford performance tyres.
These guys had a look in the yoko data base and told me I had unusual tyres on the rear of my car. Turns out PWP coachworks fitted Yoko A022 tyres to the rear of my car when they carried out crash repairs, the only car these are supposed to be used on is a Honda NSX. They promised they would fit exactly what was on there originally.
Trying to get them to pay to have one of my tyres changed and i'll foot the bill of the other one. Direct line are now persuing the matter after I got a mouthfull of abuse down the phone from someone at PWP, who thought I was ungratefull for not wanting expensive tyres on my car and that I should go and by a cheapo tyre and mix and match if thats my attitude!! I couldn't believe it! I was expecting to speak to somebody proffesional, not an arogant......... oh i'll stop there! I'm sooooo wound up! s:evil:  s:evil:
All companies above apart from PWP were very helpful!
I'm sure I read somewhere that a Honda NSX has specially matched tyres for each corner of the car?!
You should certainly hold out for them to replace both for something less..er...exotic!
Tim
Thats correct! I have NSX front right and left wheels on the rear of my car, originally one was rotating the wrong way but i had that fixed!
If they won't fix the problem I'll just sell the NSX tyre on ebay! Not many miles on it. And fork out £240 for 2 new tyres for the rear of my car. s:roll:  s:roll:
if your going to fork out £240 for 2 new tyres, why not just spend £170ish for a full set of toyos?
Didn't know Toyo's were that cheap! Thanks for the advice mate, if I hear nothing come the weekend I'll take your advice. s:D :D s:D
toyo's will DEFINATELY be my next set of boots (im trying to wear out my current set so ive got an excuse them)
ive heard they go for £40 a tyre, but everytime i look on mytyres.co.uk they're 50 s:( :( s:(
depends what size you go for... Lee has the 16" rears so he can get the fronts for about £36 and the rears for about £50.
I understand you don't get toyos in the right size? Are they a lower profile or something? Will probably just replace the back two tyres are the front Yokos are fine at the moment and I don't wanna throw money away. s:( :( s:(
Would rather get toyos from a tyre fitters, fitted, rather that an internet shop.
DONT MIX TYRES! s:shock:  s:shock: s:shock:  s:shock: s:shock:  s:shock:
If your going to just replace the rears then get whatever is on the front, otherwise your just asking to end up in a bush backwards.
For the price of 2 yokos for the rear, you can get a full set of toyos. And your right, wider lower profile 195/50/15 & 225/40/16 IIRC
Blimey I didn't realise it was that bad, thought different front and rears would have been ok, I know if you have mixed tyres on an axle is bad!

He's already done that once...!

Just got yoko's on the rear £60 each, is that cheap?

ive got some maxxis on the front and bridgestones on the back and i havnt had any trouble, i find it really hard to get the backend out as all i get is understeer s:( :( s:(
Maybe your rear tyres have a lot more grip?
maybe. the fronts are sh!t even though on the maxxis site thery're lableled as 'performance tyres'
im just gonna replace the lot soon and go for proxes s:twisted:  s:twisted:
OFF TOPIC:
did i see you this morning bongo? around 10:30am going right (quite quickly!) at the roundabout before the brigde over to toyota??
if it wasn't you never mind
yeah on the way back from mcdonalds with breakfast s:oops:  s:oops:
My office is just down the road from there...
if you were on your break ill let you off then as i was thinking "why hasn't he got the top down, tut tut!" s:wink:  s:wink:
Yeah - was just nipping out to get food.
Been put off putting the roof down recently as the last time i did it that huge rain storm started as soon as i'd got the roof down and driven off s:shock:  s:shock:
ive put the top up before when going as much as 30mph, anything more than that and the wind makes it too hard to pull up
I normally just drive and hope i don't get too wet s:D :D s:D
(i guess this should be moved into a bongo and tom talk crap thread s;) ;) s;) )
