Very nice!  Its a place I want to visit when we move to Sheffield, not far from there I guess.

No not far at all really..its across country but not too bad.  There are some really nice hotels around as well which, out of season are rediculously cheap.  I think its undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places in the UK.

I was driving round all day.  Stopping, catching some rays, then pulling off again, without ever seeing another car.  Its makes you wonder who paid for the tarmac on the roads, and the stone walls.

I really love the place.

Now I know why I want to relocate!.  We just dont have that same laid back love of life down here

Got our house valued yesterday, worth another £20k more than we thought, so looks like we will be paying off the Celica finance, which means we can afford a NICE second car...umm, what should we choose?

People always used to tell me about the difference between north and South, but living in London last year, and close to the Lakes this year is an eye opener in the extreme. I've heard people say they feel alive in London, but going out for a drive around here with the sun on the back of your neck, with open country roads really is something.  It's amazing you can bat along and then come to a complete stop, and there is nothing; save the sound of a few birds.  Magic!

Sounds as if all is going well with the house as well! Great stuff! You been practicing your accent yet Craig??

And in terms of the car..well you have your practical car now Craig..no excuses anymore!   s:lol:  s:lol:

There was only one reason for us to be in london.

IT jobs, and money.  Well with the chance to move my job up north, and keep the london salary, it too good an opertunity.  It will become an official request on Tuesday, and hopefully things should move quickly.

There are so many houses that we like, we have sort of settled for Mansfield, Mansfield woodhouse and South Normanton areas, as inbetween Lincoln, Burton and Sheffield.  But also about 20k cheaper houses (I think cos its derbyshire).

just head north from shefield and then pick up the A65 heads straight for kendal

i like the ulswater better than windamere there is a fantasic hotel at glenridding called the "inn on the lake" it backs onto the lake and you can get "lake view rooms" the view you wake up to is amazing. it is excellent for romanice weekends  s:wink:  s:wink:    s:wink:  s:wink:

when you get to sheffield you will close to the peak districk places like mattlock are well worth a visit eps if your are into bikes

there are quite a few lovely routes over the lower pennies to ward manchester close to sheffield

when you get here just let me know i have some good routes to pass if you want them

Every day, it becomes more difficult to stay in the south.

Today we had a drive around Chelmsford and its just heaving traffic, fumes and bad attitudes.  Now its getting hotter, I have trains and tubes to look forward to, sweating & standing up all the way home.  It will be so nice to just drive half an hour home.

Anyway, I guess we are sort of drifting topics, but maybe not as we are still talking about the fantistic views and drives to go on.

I know what you mean Craig, I used to hate getting on the tube in the hot weather.  Madness.  The tube always reminds me of a colony of ants moving down a tree.  I don't regret moving from London for one second, it never really felt like home to me anyways.

Anyways back on topic, the Lakes are amaxing, you must go!
