Title: Jacking Aid
Post by: Anonymous on May 17, 2004, 15:03
I have always prefered using a trolley jack whenever the car has to be raised. The trouble is, this rules out using the sill lip to locate the jack. It could be done but then you risk taking the protective paint off causing rust problems in the future.
I'm sure I've seen somewhere an accessory which I can only describe as a solid nylon ball cut in half with a large groove down the flat side. This would then sit on the bit of the jack that would normally be in contact with the vehicle and the groove would locate on the sill lip. Thus causing no damage. If you see what I mean.
Has anyone seen one of these in their travels? If so, where?

I usually lift on the the rear engine mount between the two plastic shields, and on the front suspension member, using the plastic undershield there to protect the metalwork. Both these points are in the workshop manuals. If using a decently sized jack, with a full size lifting plate rather than the smaller plates fitted to cheaper jacks, then theres no problem at all with this.

Not seen one of them, but there is an adapter for the Boxster for a trolley jack that sits in the top of the trolly jack and is split down the middle, it looks like a peace of split pipe, this then sits ether side of the lip running under the car, don't know if it would fit, but from memory i'm sure there not that different and there not that expensive either  s:) :) s:)

Nearly. More like, a person who buys an accessory for a Boxster, believing it isn't expensive, is a moron.   s:lol:  s:lol:
