Title: Inlet Duct & Insurance Co
Post by: zud on May 20, 2004, 15:03
Has anyone declared their inlet duct to their insurance Co yet?
What did you call it and/or describe it as?  What was the outcome?

I was intending to change to DIG this year, but being with the same insurance co as my wife (Direct Line) was very handy when i pranged her car (they let me choose which policy to claim on).  On the other hand, I've a feeling that DL will be more picky about the duct than DIG.

I did the other night.
It took about twenty minutes to try to explain to the person on the other end what it was and what it did and I'm sure they didn't have a clue what it was then. They seemed to want it to be part of the exhaust!

Anyway they only wanted £13 so I went with it. That was with Elephant.

Did you state that it was a performance or cosmetic mod?

Would it be possible to say that it is a cosmetic mod that is only visable when your car is on show as you need to open the engine cover in order to see it.

My insurance never asked me to state if it was cosmetic or performance. Just stated I was changing the air inlet pipework from plastic to metal.
