Title: Does size matter?!?!?!
Post by: Anonymous on June 1, 2004, 21:59
A leading question isn't it . . . . but one that I need advice on.

I am (hopefully) going to buy a second hand 2 very soon but at being only 5' tall (and a female with a couple of airbags of her own!) I was wondering if this would be a problem with driving position and reaching the pedals.

I know I need to go and sit in one but I am a little shy   s:wink:  s:wink:  and any comments would be appreciated as I have my heart set on a MR2.

Great site by the way.

Cheers me dears

Nah, you can crank the seat base up to it's highest setting and move the seat forward on it's runners. Good luck with the purchase!  s:D :D s:D

Welcome to the club!

Both the seat & steering wheel are height adjustable so im sure you can find a nice driving position. If you are near any members, they might let you sit in theirs if your shy about going to the dealers.

My other half (who's a member on the board, so I best be careful) has driven my car once (don't ask) and being.. er.. of a diminutive stature, had no problem at all.
Go buy one  s:D :D s:D

Very tactful Sean.

Welcome to the Club, I doubt if you will have any issues, like they said, the seat is ajustable.

Best check one out, but you will be fine.   s:lol:  s:lol:

I am a bloke and I am 5'5" and have no problem, with loads of movemement left on the seat. I am long in the body, so height adjustment isn't a problem, but with short legs, I have to have the seat back a little further, but I find it comfortable and I reckon someone of your "stature" (I hope I can say that cos I am a short arse!) will have no problem. Don't forget, it was designed and built in Japan where there are BOUND to be women over there who buy our cars and they are well known to be of smaller stature of their western counterparts.

Cor, that was a good point wasn't it? I suprise myself sometimes...........  s:shock:  s:shock:

Looks like you chose just the right place to come for a completely neutral, bias free opinion...

But, as John said, the Japanese are a nation of shorties, so all their cars are designed for shorter people. You'll be fine... In fact these days, the biggest problem is cars being to small for lanky gits like myself.

As for being shy with the dealers, if you can get over that for a few minutes when it comes to buying the car, and really kick the price down, you'll save yourself a few quid!

Hi there

My missus is also 5 feet high and she bought the MR2 before I met her - she finds it the most comfortable driving position she has ever had.

Go get a test drive - you won't look back!!

and don't forget to look at the used cars on this board. ...you can get a good idea of their history and previous owners, rather than buying blind from a small ad or dealer.

(well I would say that, wouldn't I!)

Good luck!
