Title: Harness Hell!
Post by: ShieldsOnTour on January 6, 2013, 11:27
Hi all,

My standard HU has packed in (the CD just skips and gives an error). So yesterday I picked up a new HU + Harness adaptor. Went to install this morning and found the previous owner seems to have hacked the old harness apart  s:( :( s:(

After removing the old unit (which looks a mess) it appears the only thing missing are the speaker cables attached to the harness (they were attached to directly to the old unit). Everything in the new HU works - radio, CD player etc - but no sound, hence why I'm hoping the speaker cables just need to be re-attached *somewhere*.

Pics below (with red square boxes around where the speaker cables attached).

Any idea's

Also - as a p.s. there seems to be a connector spare (in the second red box in the pic above) --- is this right?

Thanks all,

Tim

They attach to the connector with the foam on in the very middle of the first picture. The white/grey/black ones. I would solder them as there isn't much space to get bullet connectors on them. Solder in some extra bits and tape them up with insulating tape and all will be fine. Good luck easy job for anyone with soldering iron.

Cheers,

That's the back of the old hu.... But it's given me an idea. I can use that as a template and work out where in the new harness adapter to splice in the bayonet caps for the speakers.

Worse case..... I bugger up a 10 quid adaptor.

Awesome.. That works a treat.. I now have a brand new single din stereo in the 2, complete with cool tray underneath  :-) :-) :-)
