Does anyone know what this rubbery thing under the front bumper is.... is it there to stop stones from flicking into something?

AFAIK, it's supposed to guide the air away from the tyre. Doesn't really matter at low speeds, but should make a difference at higher speeds.
Nope. All to do with clever aerodynamic stuff I don't understand s:) :) s:) They're called "spats" if you want to do a search.
Cool, thanks guys, never had them on my other cars before, was gonna take them off because you can see them sometimes, but i'll leave them on lol
They also make one hell of a noise if you drive over a large kerb that you didn't see with them s:oops:  s:oops:

Yeah...and if you happen to run over a cut tree, don't worry about breaking them. They just rip the inner fender off the bumper and the cover under radiator, breaking both s:oops:  s:oops:
Guess how I know s:cry:  s:cry:

I reckon it has a rather less technical purpose, and it's there to help you out when you run over a hump as Liz as described?
If you didn't have it, you'd soon be losing paint from your lower splitter.. it neatly takes all the damage and lets you know you're hitting something too high!
I'm sure my 306 didn't have one, and the lower splitter had the scuff marks to prove it!
Although it might also function well as a spat too...!
