Having read the numerous tyre articles in this forum I have decided to plumb for Eagle F1 D2s for my W-reg MR2 Roadster.
However, if I stick to the Manufacturer's sizes of 185/55/15 for the front and 205/55/15 for the rear it appears that I'll have to mix up the speed ratings (V for the fronts and W for the rear) - as these are the only tyres available.
Formula 1 tyres in Stevenage suggested that it wasn't a great idea to mix up the speed ratings like this. I've already found out the the D3s don't come in the sizes mentioned above and I'm not too sure about going for 195 (front), 205 (rear) as others have already tried.
Would having V ratings on the front and W ratings on the back be so bad???

firstly, rears should be 205/50/15
secondly ti won't be a problem.
In practice a V rated tyre will cover any speeds your likely to get up to, short of putting your car in freefall froma very large cliff.
w just gives you even more leeway.
Every set of tyres I've ever had on teh roadster have been that way.

Different speed rating probably means that tyres are somewhat different...
usually means stronger sidewalls, as far as I know the rubber compund for a given tyre design is the same throughout the entire range.
either way for tyres to fit the roadster it's something youll probably have to live with.
