Do you know about the battery box designed especially for the G13EP?  See Commercial Sales on SpyderChat http://www.spyderchat.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=10460.  The battery itself can be had for about $60 in the US, less if you look around, but may end up with something refurbished.  I got mine at http://www.gotbatteries.com.

Direct link to it (works for me anyway): http://www.gotbatteries.com/Productpage.asp?ProductNum=37L141S3

UK... sorry, I forgot where you were.  Buy locally, if you can.

EDIT:  The only Genesis I could find selling in England was this: http://www.perrific.com/cds/covers/genesis.jpg  Shipping might be expensive, seeing how they charge by the pound.

The battery at the site listed is only 13 amp hours. I realize that is not cold cranking amps, but is 13 amp hour enough for this car? What   s:roll:  s:roll:  is the cranking amps?

They would, but the shipping was something ridiculous, near $200 IIRC. I need a lightweight battery too, but apparently not from US  s:? :? s:?

Roughly 100 amps...so in theory 13Ah is enough to crank for over 7 minutes, should be enough  s;) ;) s;)

I've got an Odyssey 680 in my Alfa 156 2.0 (am looking to get a Roadster) which saved me 8.5KG in weight.
It starts the car without any problems and has been doing so for nearly a year

After recieving it i honestly couldnt tell any significant difference in the weight, the difference in weight costs alot of money for what it is. You dont need the battery holder you can install the Oddessy with some inprovisation.

With the money im going to buy a B&M shifter and feel happier knowing im not missing much on the battery front  s:roll:  s:roll:  Actually im suspicious as to HOW similar the weight was, either my old one is very light or the oddessy is heavier than advertised.

It depends on what battery you get.  Mine cost $60 and saved about 16lbs (you do the unit conversions).  The battery box was $35 (they are $40 now).  So for about $100 you save 16lbs and I know of no other way to get that kind of bang for the buck (after you remove things like spare tire that is).  Lighter seats, lighter exhaust, everything I know of costs more per pound lost.

FYI you need to shed 6kg to gain +1bhp/ton  s:wink:  s:wink:

If my maths is right,  s:? :? s:?

Which is 13.2 pounds

so you've got your 1bhp, for an amount oif cash that you'd spend on a CAI sort of.

only here there are no downsides, no lag, e.t.c, plus, you also improve handling, braking e.t.c as well.

Will you notice teh difference? I don't know but if your prepared to do a CAI for performance reasons this has to be at least that good an idea.

But then again, that only applies in straight line. Extra hp doesn't improve braking or cornering  s;) ;) s;)

Knights batteries delt with my refund perfectly. I would recommend them to anyone wanting a genisis battery. Delivery was about 1-2 days, refund in full.
