Title: new alpine double din
Post by: simonlacey88 on June 6, 2013, 11:03
Hi everyone, this is my first post on here, I have a 2002 red mr2 with black wheels, looks the buisness, just fitted a Alpine double din head unit yesterday as the standard sony was very poor, what can i say what a difference it sounds ten times better, next up is some Focal speakers.

How ever on the way home from the garage yesterday after fitting the stereo, I could smell burning, when i got home, noticed oil leaking, just had it in at my local garage and they reckon the crankshaft oil seal has gone any ideas on price we are looking at?.

can wait to get out and have some fun in the sun

This one? Great value. If you stream from an android, you may need to update the firmware to cure some bluetooth connection problems.

The seal will cost roughly £20 from a Toyota Stealer (front main crankshaft seal). Labour will depend upon the garage but 1-2 hours should be enough.

Hi there, thanks for that, yes thats the one, its been reduced on halfords and yesterday got another 10% of, well worth it, we have bluetooth handsfree in our other cars and its great for taking calls and playing music from I phone.
Got to give it to the guys from Halfords Northallerton, they did a great job, I watched them and it sounds much better, now speakers.

Thanks alot as well about the Crankshaft oil seal, what a bummer yesterday got just new stereo fitted, away from work early, everyone away on holiday and a sunny day and the cars sat on the drive, Took it to my local garage at 6.30 this morning and they got on with staright away, hopefully back tomorrow.

cheers again

Glad you're getting it sorted. If you are using iPhone then I don't think there is a connection problem ... however, it may be worth upgrading the firmware as I found the sound quality improved (new codecs?) and the volume level increased.
