Title: head unit wiring facelift model
Post by: philbert on June 24, 2013, 21:39
I'm trying to fit a new head unit, I've got the harness adaptor and when that is connected I can get the new unit to power on and play, but I'm only getting sound from one speaker. Does anyone have a wiring diagram available that shows which pins on the harness go to the speakers?

after further inspection I've found that the wires connected to the dead speaker (left) are pink/purple but there does not appear to be any pink/purple wires at the head unit end. I'm getting really confused now as to what could be the cause of the problem and am finding that I have less and less of the car actually attached to the car.

It's OK. I found the problem. It was due to the sat-nav system in the rear bins. there are two connectors behind the head unit, the one that you need to use for the head unit is actually connected the cable for the sat-nav. I was expecting the system to go Sat-nav -> head unit -> speakers, when it actually goes head unit -> sat-nav -> speakers. once I worked that out everything fell into place.
