I've got one from 2002 and it sucks. So it needs to be replaced. What have you got in yours? Photos?

The same as yours, and I'm having the same thoughts!

I've got a JVC KW-XR811. It's so easy to fit in, using the brackets that came with the car, they just screw into the stereo. It's Bluetooth, you get a remote, mp3, two USB inputs, aux in, cd changer compatable, if you've got iPhone/android you can make receive calls without hands and play music from your phone to the hu, and displays phonebook on the hu screen, Change the lights on it to match your trim! And the best part. It cost £72 delivered off eBay and I've seen them go for £60-£80 and there in my opinion one of the best on the market!
Got the same as above, looks great & excellent unit for the price.

Sweet. Loving the red.
they do look sweet! Watching some on the bay. The JVC KW-XR411 seems to be lower spec model, but a few of them for sale. Hopefully it fit's in just as nice.
If your budget goes further than the others not knocking the alpine as I got one in my van and it is excellent. In all my 10 years of driving and always fitting multiple headunits I have never had one as good as the one in my signature. The Kenwood dnx range is by far the best, but does have the price tag to go with it.
Very smooth looking unit. If only I had the cash

I much prefer the single DIN. Firstly, you can remove the fascia. Secondly, you get space underneath for a phone/wallet/whatever. Thirdly, they tend to be cheaper. IMHO Double DIN seem pointless unless you are using a full screen display for Sat-Nav/DVD/Multimedia applications.
The stereo sounds great, hooks up via usb to pretty much anything including Android and iOS devices. The same can be said for the bluetooth function, works great for music streaming and voice calls. I love just getting into the car turning the engine on and music to stream exactly where i left it off before, without having to connect any wires.
Any more info give me a shout.

Have you blanked off the space created by a shorter head unit? Looks nice. I'm going for a red theme with my 2

Thanks mate! No I haven't, the space below is where the bigger unit should be. The caddy gave a nice 'slot' to put stuff in.

Brian, this looks great. Could you give us the name of the seller please?
Did you have to get any sort of additional loom to convert the wiring?
One more question - are you running stock speakers?
CBF, it was just an auction my friend! however ive seen them go from £50 to £80, just gotta fall lucky like i did pal!
all i need was this:
m http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PC2-17-4-Toyo ... 2a14956df5 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PC2-17-4-Toyota-MR2-MR2-Roadster-ISO-Stereo-Head-Unit-Harness-Adaptor-Wiring-/180733963765?pt=UK_Cars_Parts_Vehicles_Terminals_Cabling_ET&hash=item2a14956df5) m
And yes i am running just standard stock speakers, but you do notice a better sound using this HU than the stock Sony one i had in! any other questions i will be glad to help you!!
Ace! Well, fingers crossed! Will keep my eyes open. That one looks great value for what it does.
I'm happy with the stock speakers for now, just want to be able to play MP3s and be able to make calls. Spec seems very high, considering!
Waiting for the sub-box group buy to come in, then can start to look at new speakers, too...
Cheers
if for some reason you need a cage for the jvc headunit if you get one like mine, ive got a brand new spare one! it is a top spec headunit for the price! could you send me the page for the sub-box group buy please, might invest myself lol thanks mate and goodluck !

Ok guys, after looking at this thread iv got a big to but a new head unit. At the moment i have a jvc double din with a touch screen, it plays dvds etc and is awesome. Im thinking of changing to the jvc kw-xr811 after seeing it on this thread, mainly for the phone connection to speak throu and also the 3 out puts that i need for 2 x subs and 1 x amp for front speakers but.......
my double din facia is detachable and i love that for security. What do you guys do who have double dins that are not detachable, do you just leave them on show constantly?
hi mate! yeah good choice in jvc headunit there mate. i have one for bout 3-4 months now and one of the best purchases ever! i normally just leave it on show having no removalable facia, however you could use the toyota hiding facia plate thingy! im selling one at the moment but it does have a dibbs on, but if they dont want it, put a second dibbs on it and its yours!! link to my selling topic: l viewtopic.php?f=37&t=46416 (http://www.mr2roc.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=46416) l
