Title: Does any1 here drive the A46 Northbound (Lincoln)
Post by: Anonymous on July 6, 2004, 10:10
Hey guys - only reason i ask is that there used to be a speed camera on this stretch of road.

I was doing about 85 at 2am down there on friday night on my drive to Hull and forgot about it, i KNOW the southbound one is still there but can't find out about the northbound on.

It was mainly for this reason i bought the Road Angel, hope its not a case of too little too late   s:oops:  s:oops:

Hi,

I live in lincoln, i presume you mean the by-pass around lincoln on the duel carriage way section ?

You are indeed right, there is one south bound just after the flyover into burton village.

There is no other camera on the Lincoln by-pass north or south facing, so you should be alright.

hope this helps

otherwise check out this site:

Thanks mate - you are a complete LEGEND!!

I'll buy you a beer next time on my way up!

Tell ya what the Halfrauds in Lincoln (retail park one on the outer circle road or something?) are very good - spoke to Rob there who sorted me out with the Road Angel (on the way home lol).

No worries mate, you are very welcome.

As for the road angel, good purchase, I've had a geodosey for a while now which does exactly what I need it to do (stop me getting caught!)

Do be warned thou, apparently they where out with handhelds on the university bridge at the weekend the cheeky buggers for the water festival!

My mates got a B2, he didn't have it with him at the time, but drove home knowing they where there to make sure his lazer detector worked!!! what is he like!

anyway, glad you are point free and no doubt catch you at some future event.

Cheers

Cheers matey

I dunno if you'll know this but i saw some lines on the A1 which looked like truvelo lines (Northbound just before the A46) with no camera's.

Are they putting SPECS up?

Couldn't see anything about it on that site you sent me so maybe they are just the remnants of old cameras!
Title:
Post by: darrenjuggins on July 6, 2004, 11:26
Hi,

Lincolnshire haven't really gone for any SPEC's camera's, although nottinghamshire are well keen on them.

personally I feel, (sensible head on) that a constant max speed is much better than the catch you round the corner gatso's.

I wouldn't be without my gadget now, not that i speed, i just don't like being caught out, i pay enough for road tax and insurance and fuel without paying an additional tax for enjoying myself! (sorry rant over)

D  :-) :-) :-)

Hi Darren.  Glad to hear that, I road tested the Celica with my mate a few weeks ago on it...he wanted to know if it was a quick as the 2.

You going to JAE?

Didn't there used to be several cameras on the new Newark to Lincoln link road  s:?: :?: s:?:   I remember going to a bike night at a pub near the old RAF Swinderby (not so fond memories).

Must admit didn't see any the last time i passed that way though.

As for the Hull to Brigg road, it's only bad point is the rip off toll for the bridge   s:!: :!: s:!:

A46 Lincoln to Newark Road - Now opened (4 Month's Early!) has not fixed camera on at all.

it's now 6mins between lincoln and newark (A1) junction at 70mph (ish) which is excellent.

But be warned camera signs are errected and it has been known for vans to be situated along the route.

Normally Plate checkers though for tax dodgers, so fair warning to you all.

Otherwise it's great.

Cheers

Darren

Lincoln Resident (hmmmmm Damons!) I can smell them from my house  :-) :-) :-)

I had to laugh when they were building it though as there was one 2 mile stretch with about 6 cameras on   s:!: :!: s:!:  Just as you came off the Lincoln by-pass heading South.

A meet in lincoln sounds a bloody good idea.....

Damons is a perfect place for people to meat (tee, hee), eat and possibly sleep! (Motel!)

Right - when do we want it ?

THere is also a karting track and also paint balling near bay for the more energetic amongst you ?

Not sure the local bobbies would feel the same about a bunch of us in front of the cathedral, but would make a bloody good photo.

The carting track at Newark is AWSOME, we rented it out for the day, was excellent.

Shouldnt be long now till I move up there now...hopefully   s:lol:  s:lol:

Well we know the way to craig heart (no I'm not batty) is Food (see JAE 2004 postings!)

The Karting sounds great (Craig if you have organised it before, lets see if we can do some kind of grand prix things for us all).

As for you others photo opportunity infront of catherdral (late on of course!) plus food and tour of lincoln via numerous MR2's + Celica (Tee, Hee!)

Craig - whats your ETA for Sheffield, we coudl arrange something shortly afterwards ?

Plus also have a proper thread in the correct sections (sorry moderators!)

Slightly back on topic now......when up around the Humber bridge watch out for people carriers  s:!: :!: s:!:   I saw it on the way home from this bike night but by the time i got back with my camera it had packed up for the night.

Read the following to understand.

Also I have seen a camper van in Lincoln with very faint markings on the rear just saying Police. They are getting sneakier by the day.  s:evil:  s:evil:
