Title: Water Leak Under Seats
Post by: Anonymous on July 6, 2004, 13:01
It seems that when we have some heavy rain I get water coming in under the seats. It is mainly under the passenger seat. The other day I had left my car for about 1 week and opened it to find a big puddle of water under the seat towards the luggage compartments. I have checked the drain holes are clear but still no good

Any Ideas??

Have you checked the water outlets behind the vents too?  My top drain holes were clear but water was backing up from the side outlets.

Hi Mick

when you say you've checked the drains, did you remove the side vents as well? or just drop the hood and check down the sides at the grill?

Hi Darren,

Yeah that was me. Have cleaned all the drains out again but not sure if it has worked yet. I am still getting water coming in to the luggage compartments so guess there must be a blockage somewhere still. Not sure if this water can then get down and under the carpets or not or whether it's leaking from somewhere else. Do you know if there are any other drains that could be blocked??

Thanks,

Mike

Heck - I'm not sure mate......

Possibly a trip up to Listers Toyota would be worth while, see if they have any better experience than we do ?

They will have the diagram's of all the drains or possible blockage points.

They are all really helpful and it might just save you a lot of time and effort searching about.

Hope you get it sorted anyway mate.

Cheers

Darren

PS - did you find a mini disc player for the car ? if not why not try Argos, they had a managers special in, which i guess might still be there, as Mini disc isn't a huge seller.

If one button comes loose in the top, it can block the upper drain hole. I had that issue some time ago. Try to see if you find anything loose in the top around the upper vent. You probably need to lower the top about half way down to get to it.

Sorry don't have photos or anything...search should come up with some older posts about this matter though  s;) ;) s;)
