Title: Passenger window not working, no power.
Post by: parker455 on November 3, 2013, 16:02
Hi guys,

Having a mare electrics wise..

Passenger window won't drop, worked when I got it but was slow and sounded rough, one day suddenly stopped working.

However, this is pointing me toward the motor being knackered.. but if it was just the motor wouldn't the switch light up when the lights are on? It's not, put it shortly. I can't hear the motor trying to work and no, the child safety lock isn't enabled.

Can anybody shed some light on this before I try the motor/switch replacement?

Have you tried the passenger window disable switch to the right of the steering column?

Just whipped everything out, can hear the motor working when the switch is pulled 'up' but when pushed down, nothing. Sounds to me like the motors gone awole OR the window itself is simply stuck.

Would you recommend taking it all apart then rebuilding it?

just been fiddling with the switch, took it apart and it was all gummed up internally on the contacts, black soot like material. Cleaned the contacts, put back together and we have a working window again. Thanks anyway guys.

I'm a happy chappy
