A mod for fitting LED turn signals.
Fitting LED replacements to the side repeaters did not cause a problem but when I tried replacing even just one of the front or rear bulbs the flasher unit decided that it thought a bulb had blown and went into quick flash mode.
I am using these CREE units that are *very* bright.

So armed with 1/4 Watt 1 Ohm resistors from the local Maplin

I made this mod to a spare flasher unit
(http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg601/carlclarke/IMG_18291.jpg)
I started with 4 resistors and this made the left and right turn signals function correctly but the hazard lights failed to flash so I added 3 more resistors and both hazard and turn functions correctly. So for my flasher unit - 7 x 1 Ohm resistors.
For the rear turn signals, I needed amber bulbs and the bright CREE units only come as clear white so I bought a small piece of amber film from Lamin-X and covered the CREE lens. The Lamin-X film is just like vinyl wrap and needs warming with hot air to shape it. I ended up using two layers to get a good amber colour and the light loss is minimal.
Make the mod at your own risk, all I can say is that it worked for me.
