Title: Irresponsible Electricity Company Jeep.
Post by: Anonymous on July 30, 2004, 11:31
Right, so here i am with a mate in the car driving at 32 in a 30, all of a sudden this jeep comes carreering up behind me flashing his lights nd honking his horn.

Now let me explain a little further, this stretch or road is narrow with a school on it and i am in some traffic, cars infront etc etc and this bloke is now beepin his horn as well as flashing, i can't go anywhere and its outside a school for goodness sakes.

I pull over at the first opportunity nad he goes past leaning out the window saying "are you some kinda w*nker or something"

I mean FFS what was i meant to do?

I couldn't get the number off the side i was trying as he went past, just so happens another mate was behind the jeep and he couldn't believe how close he was, he said "i think the jeep was trying to have your babies" lol

you can't win.... stick to the speed limit and you'll get harrased by the public, break the speed limit and you'll get harrased by the police.  Just got to live with it I guess.

Prat.

I wouldn't have pulled over: instead, I'd have slowed right down to about 10mph, then sped up again if he looked like he was going to overtake. I do this regularly if someone sits that close on my arse, 'cos if they're going to piss me off then I'm at least going to have a little fun with it!

I hate it when people in 4x4s tailgate me (and i don't drive particularly slowy so that cant be the reason). I just get visions of them not being able to stop and sort of driving over me   s:? :? s:?

People in 4x4s always do it, they get an invicible pill when they buy them.

I do the same, slow down.  If they are going to cause an accident by driving like tw*ts, then I am going to ensure that I am going as slow as possible to minimise risk.

I always get reg numbers now (have a digital dictation thing in the car) as you never know when it will turn ugly.

IIRC I was told by an officer once that if you report someone for driving dangerously by their reg, they often ban said driver..sounds far fetched to me but is that true? Liz?

I would not think that the police can act on your word alone; shame though.

Never had heard of that Mike.... even to take driving complaints and believe me we get loads of calls with "someone cut me up I want you to arrest him", you have to have an independent witness who is willing to give a statement and ultimately stand up in court if it went that far. Normally we have to tell people - sorry nothing that we can do, pretty poor but thats the way that it goes.

I had some idiot down a country road today - pull out to the other side of the road and drove on the right so I couldn't overtake him.  s:roll:  s:roll:   I was holding back in anycase as I don't tailgate, but what a prick.  I suppose when you spend alot of time on the road you see shit driving everyday and you take no particular notice of it in the end. Sad but true.

If the police just acted on information given to them by reg number, how open to abuse by malicious calls that would be.....you could have a field day!! Ex- wifes/husbands/boyfriends - you could land them all in the poo!

And with the mileage I do I can vouch that there are many idiots on the road. I'm not saying that we are all perfect 100% of the time but some things people do on the road is outrageous and damn right bloody dangerous  s:shock:  s:shock:

Seems to be more common these days. I have had more "tailgaters" in the last few months than I ever got in the Volvo. Maybe they see a "sports car" and think we should be doing 120mph all the time.

In the Volvo I used to just leave people for dead (risking a speeding fine etc I know). Now I just stick to my speed (usually very sensible) unless they really piss me off.

Slowing down is fun too. I remember once some idiot was nearly in my boot and tried to come past me off a roundabout (think he was in a cleo). I let him come level and then booted it. Bet his mates laughed at him for weeks.
