Oooh... nice.
There are a lack of details at the mo, but it looks Exige-like and should attain around 300bhp. As soon as Auto Express update their website I will add a pic.
Quick scan instead...

I was flicking through Auto Express in Morrisons earlier. Car looks fantastic, and will slot into the range above the Elise. Just can't help thinking that it has been designed by Opel – those front wings and side air intakes look very VX220.... s:? :? s:?
And the front looks damn similar to the Pug 407... except the mouth is upside down. The rest looks almost identical (IMHO).
The angel of doom appears..have to say I really don't like it..hope it doesn't look like that when it's released, just doesn't look cohesive to me. Looks like a VX220 and a barchetta have had it away and this is the outcome. I much preferred the M250 prototype..but thats just IMO! s:lol:  s:lol: I've got really negative about a lot of new cars, nothing really excites me at the mo!
Interesting to read that it will use Toyota power...I wonder what unit they will use to get 300bhp? As Lotus aren't usually (Esprit excluded) a fan of blowers...I would presume it would have to be some American V6, maybe the Solara V6?
MAYBE it will be a turbo'd 2zz! as they will be wanting to keep the weight down. it wouldl have to be a highly tuned V6 to be running 300bhp
The Toyota V6 they use in *everything* would work. It could make 300hp with the supercharger and a bit of tweaking.
Shame it looks like an ugly VX though.

yep if wanted an ugly VX I could buy one allready :-) :-) :-)

Come on, it's an Auto Express exclusive! It'll be nothing like the picture and the mechanicals will be nothing like those suggested in the article. They just make stuff up.

Whilst the written stuff in Autoexpress is pretty poor..I think they're usually not too bad with scoops! Granted it will look different, but I doubt it will be that far out!
Can't stand that Rutherford guy who rights in it though..and who's that guy who looks like Johnny Vegas?
Haven't read the article, but they did publish a total load of arse about the Elise when Lotus were putting the 2ZZ in and running development cars around the local area. IIRC they claimed it was a V6. Now that I am curious I may even buy a copy of the rag on the way home, then review it when the car is actually released, or not.

Wearing a balaclava as disguise, I bought a copy of AE and having read the article I reckon it's a total load of rubbish. They seem to have concluded that Lotus are launching a new GT based purely on 2 grainy B+W spy-shots taken, "near Lotus in Hethel". Based on the presence of a tyre wall I suspect that the pictures were actually taken at the Lotus test track.
The article states that the car photographed is clearly wider than an Elise. To my reasonably well trained eye it looks identical in width to the Elise in a shot on the same page - the windscreen surround is, I think, the identical part. The artists at AE have taken their ususal step of using photoshop to produce a fictional work translating the spy shots of a disguised car into an "EXCLUSIVE!".
I don't know what the car photographed was but I would be surprised if anything remotely like the VX220-alike 300bhp Lotus GT with all new front suspension, luggage capacity etc. is launched in the forseeable.
I'm not meaning to have a go at anyone who has a different view of AE than me, so please don't take offence if you believe the content or angle of the article or did for a while. I will humbly apologise if anything I have written above proves to be incorrect.
