Title: Taking the centre console apart for stereo replacement!
Post by: Anonymous on August 11, 2004, 13:46
Hi there.

I've searched for instructions, but couldn't find exactly what I'm looking for..

By process of elimination, I've discovered that the CD changer control in my single DIN Sony head unit is faulty. I want to take it all out, and replace changer and head unit with an MP3 head unit.

I've been told by the company that fitted my stereo that the head unit is bolted in place? I've fitted a few stereos in my time, but the our centre console seems difficult to take to pieces!   s:oops:  s:oops:

Would anyone mind doing a quick step-by-step write up of how to get it apart?!

I need to buy a new fascia surround too, as mine got kicked and has broken on one side. Will update with pics if it helps, not sure whether I have the Toyota or Autoleads one!

Cheers!
Tim.
(trying to save £30 fitting charge and overpriced new head-unit!)

OK, answered my own question now by searching for "Autoleads"!   s:oops:  s:oops:

Mine currently looks like this: (hope you don't mind me linking to your pic Phil!)

And I think this should help me out with taking it all apart!
