One of the next jobs is install my wideband and knock meter. both will obviously want to be on the drivers dashboard, my lambda sensors pretty much central. as is the position im going to put the knock sensor.
The knock i can just use whatever wires. but i'd like to keep the oem loom for my wideband and not cut it, it has quite a lot of length, but im wondering what route most people take?
Seems like quite a few choices, with loom ports both on the nearside and offside, and then both the centre consol and left or right doorstrips to bring up to the dash.
I'm currently thinking ECU loom route, then to the middle of the bins, past the handbrake, up the middle of the dash. that way i pass the ECU and can tap into it for emulated narrowband etc...
I also need to feed a vacuum line for the boost gauge.
Mine is routed as you mention pretty straight forward to run cables in a roadster.
sounds like the best route then. i've yet to stick my head under the dash or anything properly, so have no idea whats under any of the trim anywhere bar the bins.. its all a steep learning curve s:) :) s:) but I'm looking at an MOT in May at this rate s:) :) s:)
Any route would work to be honest. Once your cables etc are inside the rear bins you could go down either side of the car with cables but the vacuum like would be your only issue. Mine is run down the centre and causes no problems
All mine run down the passenger sill. Easy access at both ends and just clip the sill back. Also uses the existing grommetted hole in firewall.
