Well, my brand new 2 is arriving tomorrow "between 9 and 12"! I am very excited to say the least but the pesimist in me is saying "There will be something wrong with it Ed... Paint chipped, ill fitting bumper extentions... something..."
I've never taken delivery of a car before this way (delivered on the back of a truck to my office!).
Is there anything in particular that I need to check before I sign anything?
Check the entire body for chips etc, but beware, you may only find laqure blemishes after washing in the sunlight. But these are fixed under warrenty anyway.
Just check everything looks in order and works...thats if you can get near it, no doubt everyone in your office willl be flocked around it. s:lol:  s:lol:
whats this laqure thingy, would it look like the very top "clear coat" had been removed by any chance, i've noticed that and wondered why/is there anything that can be done.
Nice one! ANd don't worry, it will all be OK s:) :) s:)
Nice one, just take your time when it arrives, check everything and you'll be fine.
Most importantly make sure you can get the roof down! s:wink:  s:wink:
All the best with your new car, cant see you'll be getting much work done though! s:lol:  s:lol:
Tyre Pressures - favourite trick is to leave them at the pressure they left the factory which is waaaaaay too high
HA! I'm not getting much work done now!!! s:shock:  s:shock:
I've already booked tomorrow afternoon off so I can spend some quality time alone with it before my girlfriend wants me to drive her somewhere s:roll:  s:roll:
Should I limit the revs for a while or is that not necessary with modern new cars?
Take some pics as soon as it arrives, try and get a good background.
Enjoy the moment......ah I still remember Jan 8 2004 (the day mine arrived) s:D :D s:D
Limit the overrevving and hard braking for the first 1000 miles...not entirely needed, but cant be a bad thing...besides this gives you something else to look forward to when you redline it at 1000 miles s:lol:  s:lol:
The laquere stuff can be hard to see, I washed the 2 three times before I noticed what looked like paint splashes on the bonnet. You cant normally see them though unless in sun light.
Enjoy and don't drive her hard for 600-1000miles. The boot her and be prepared to be grinning for quite some time............. s8) 8) s8)
Thanks for all the encouraging words gang!
I'll take some pictures as soon as it arrives. I'll be the one with the stupid grin on his face s:lol:  s:lol:
How many hours left... s:shock:  s:shock:
your sooooo not going to be able to sleep tonight s;) ;) s;)
I know, I know...
Just checked the weather forcast for tomorrow... Not looking like Roadster weather. I think I'd have been better off buying a boat s:cry:  s:cry:
Will keep my fingers crossed for you! I remember when I picked mine up from South London had a brilliant drive on the 24th August 2003 all the way back to the midlands .. roof down the whole way! Also, the next day was a trip to my parents in Wales ... roof down the whole way again!
FINGERS CROSSED for good weather!
good luck for tomorrow! I remember 1st September 03 very well - was the first off the forecourt!
Enjoy your new baby!
Ditto swp, I too picked mine up on the 1st of Sep 2003. I remember thinking, "none of you have a 53 reg, nah nah nana nah!" and I didnt see another 53 for about a week or so.
Do check for laquer thing as i spotted it at the dealers when i went to pick mine up s:shock:  s:shock: I went straight to the service centre and had it booked in for it to be fixed. Of course i got a courtesy car for free, (a cacky corolla which was a real let down when i had been waiting for ages to drive the 2).
Enjoy the moment mate, and dont forget to take it easy on her for the first 1000 miles as the others have said.

Most important thing is not to labour it in too low a gear. I did quite a bit of research before picking up my new '2 and decided to avoid full throttle and above 4000rpm until 500 miles, then 5000 rpm up to 1000, then an oil change and then let rip s:lol:  s:lol: .
Hope you enjoy!
