Having read a few articles on here about repositioning the cone behind the battery I just wanted a bit of advice. I think I have the majority of the bits to do the work, I have the MAF housing from the induction kit which I presume I can use but I guess I will need a new silicone hose. Can someone confirm that this is what I will need?

Is there somewhere easy to fit a bracket to keep it all sturdy? Also, does the original MAF wire/plug reach to behind the battery?
Any other advice would be appreciated.
I actually fitted mine last weekend!

yep, 70mm internal bore 45deg bend... it just needs to be cut shorter. I then used the part I cut off as a spacer on the other side of the MAF to connect it to the filter (80mm internal bore K&N).
It ended up being so stiff with such little movement, I didn't bother with a bracket. I guess that would depend on the quality of the 45deg hose...
*edit*
No need to extend the connector for the MAF, that will reach fine. Don't forget to do an ECU reset.
Also, I used a second hand airbox from ebay and cut that up leaving as much as I could to shield heat away from the filter. Using anything other than the original MAF housing can cause lots of problems.
That looks like a smart job! I didn't realise how important a MAF clean and ECU reset is, but it really is important!
Was it a fairly straightforward job? You say anything other than original MAF housing won't work, but all that I was hoping to use was the piece that comes with the full K&N kit. I am already using it with the filter just in a different place on the car. It connects between the filter and the original air intake pipe. It was ready moulded for the MAF sensor to fit in. Will that really not do the job if I am changing it to be positioned behind the battery? I would've thought it just does the same job.
The K&N filter MAF housing should be fine (especially if you've already been running it without problems), it's one of the decent kits and several members here have them. Some problems have been reported by the cheap eBay knock off kits or home-brews however so that might be what is being referred to.
Ah I see, thanks for that. Having looked at the quality of the original compared to my K&N MAF housing I actually think it might be worth trimming the original one down, it just looks like it could be a better fit. I'll try with the K&N one first and see how that goes.
Are there any downsides to putting the filter behind the battery? Logically, it seems the best place for the filter, but I just wondered.
