Title: Stock injector size
Post by: Tem on September 3, 2004, 07:24
Anyone know the stock injector size in EU models...?

I'm asking cause apparently they are 260cc in US and 290cc in Japan. And running a US-tuned map in EU car seems to make it run bloody rich...

I don't.

I *thought* everywhere was 230cc!?! I can't see why it would make any sense to use different injectors - it's not like they're anywhere near capacity on a stock engine.

According to SC, the US BGB says the stock injectors are OK if they flow 240-290cc. And someone had measured that they are actually 260cc. That's probably where you got the 230cc?

Also some posts said that they are 290cc in Japan. That could also be confusion about the 240-290cc limits...don't know  s:? :? s:?

(I have no idea why, but 4A-GE also had several different injector sizes, though they all would've been enough for all)

Edit: It was 240-290, not 230-290

SC works again...and that was 240-290cc...just phoned to a friend who has my BGB and it says 240-292cc, so they should be same...

However, the AF-mixture seems to be ok, when I set the injectors to 90% from PFC (meaning mine would be 10% bigger)...I'm clueless  s:? :? s:?

In my experience, i'd set iniector data to 106% or more in PFC as the our iniectors' flow is lesser than 290 cc/min reported in PFC manual. Knock is lesser, the engine revs better and a/f ratio readings are 12,2/12,8 at part throttle and WOT (with my wideband sensor).
I have installed a PPE intake and Header/cat, though.

But I have the MWR map, which is tuned for US 1ZZ-FE, so I don't think the manual examples matter in this case  s;) ;) s;)

Anyway, the 90% seems perfect. At least the mixture is right where it should be...
