Quote from: "mxcum167"I like that.  What paint did you use?

Just an all purpose rattle can and permanent marker pen for logo.

De-cat manifold sprayed satin black bbq paint and polished heat shields next  s:) :) s:)  .

Must do something with the cat as the nappy is missing and would look good with a colour  s:) :) s:)

As you can see, heat shield is a slightly unintentional oddinge  s:D :D s:D

Barney Bear might do my shields at the sides did yours come off easy? anyone know what size socket for the bolts
Title: Re: Engine cover detail
Post by: Barney Bear on September 3, 2014, 17:59
All the shields come off easy one on the crossmember is tricky but can be done without taking the bumper off

but far easier to remove the lot   s:D :D s:D   bumper, lights etc

Just a quickie... what clips/screws go in the 2 holes nearest the back?
And where do I get them?
Title: Re: Engine cover detail
Post by: no1trancefan on September 10, 2014, 11:21
for the brace? oh do you mean the engine cover? there nuts on the top two might have check size for you if no one knows off hand
Title: Re: Engine cover detail
Post by: Fin on September 10, 2014, 11:34
Yeah, just on the cover. I haven't lost my nuts yet... The bottom 2 are missing, seems to be plastic from a broken clip in one hole? The other one just looks like an m6 or something??

im not sure on the name of those plastic fasteners, i just had order a batch for the top of the seat belt plastics i used ebay for those. you could put a post in wanted sure someone has a spare set

OK' thanks for that. I'll try that way.
As a by the way, if anyone is doing this and wants the 2 colour...
Simply paint the raised section the colour you want. Once it's dry, cover it with lip-balm (or something similar). Now you paint the whole thing the colour you want. Once that's dry, wipe the paint off the raised section. The lip balm stops the paint from sticking. (Not my idea, stolen from elsewhere on this forum  s;) ;) s;) )

I did try this lip balm trick. I think I put on too many coats though, as it didn't come off properly. Also the edges were not very neat. Might have jut been my technique though.

i wouldnt mind a carbon one if was a bit cheaper, 100 for the engine lid when the spoiler was 245 seems a bit steep
