Title: Started my Rear Bin Install - Finished Fitting - SbS Pics
Post by: RubixRonnie on September 25, 2014, 16:06
So after much umming and arrrghhhing(not in a pirate way) I've deciced to use the door bins to house 2 6x9's either side of a central 12" sub, then going to close it in at the back.
Started yesterday and managed to get to having cut and stuck the MDF to the back of the storage bins.
Turning it into one opening and just Audio carpeting the bins once the install is done.
Cant wait to get it finished, more pics to follow next week!

Didn't think of that, i've attached some MDF to the passenger side bin and putting an amp on that, thick MDF so if the gutters block, it shouldn't effect them.won't it rattle connect to the door, even with the mdf?

It might rattle, yet to be tested, but if it does I have a plan to stop it rattling.im covering them in acoustic carpet so rattle shouldn't be too much of an issue.will keep u updated though with how it goes!

I know nothing about audio equipment, but visually it looks very tidy and those elliptical speakers look shiny!

This is awsome, one thing I missed when I went from my clio to the MR2 was the sound system. I didn't think there was anywhere to put 6x9s in the 2 haha!

Lol, thanks Josh, theres always somewhere to put 6x9's!
And a 12" sub in this case, amp is stored in the left storage bin and strapped down using the OEM straps.
Wiring it all up tonight so will post results as soon as its sounding somewhere near decent.
Wont be right until I get the flashing in though.

Apparantly so.. I do miss the JBL bass tube too with 2x 12" active subs  s:D :D s:D

Is there a risk when putting electrical stuff in the storage bins?
Reason I ask is because my straps have some mold on them which leads me to think it may get damp in there occasionally?

If the drains overflow they go into the storage bins.
The trick is to keep cleaning out the drains so they dont have a chance to overflow, or fit a hardtop, which I do for the winter.

Final update!
So after months of not doing anything with this I finally figured out what was wrong
No bloody remote cable!
Duh!
So installed it tonight, permanently fixed the 6x9's in and spent about 20 mins getting the sound just right
I'm pleased to say there is no rattle up to just before my ears explode, must be something to do with all the pink grip I used to fix the MDF to the back of the storage bins
One very happy Danny!!!
