Title: Wiring harness
Post by: winger on October 2, 2014, 21:11
Hi All,
New to this forum, only picked my car up last night.Today I have cleaned out the drains in the side vents as I had water slushing around on the drive home, drivers side was holding a lot of gunge and water.
While I was cleaning the tops of the drains I came across a cable with a two pin plug on it,looks like two black wires with a black plug with a white strip on it.Could not find anywhere in the vicinity to plug it into and was thinking it could be related to the rear screen.Ran out of time to investigate further but the cable plug was resting right on top of the drain. Also on the passenger side aronund the drain top area was a strip of material with the female part of a press stud but again could not find where to attach it.
Any help would be most appreciated.Car is 2002.
Best regards  Neil

It is probably for the rear screen. But is it the one for the hardtop or the softtop. My hardtop cable is on the drivers side.
Don't think mine is plugged in  either. Tops always down anyway.

Not sure but there was quite a lot of water where it was resting.I never gave it a thought about the hard top wiring, really need to get a workshop manual with a wiring diagram.

The press stud maybe the ears strap come undone on one side. Is it on a webbing type strap?

Hi,Yes it is.I will check later,I assume that I should be able to see it when the roof is in the raised position.

This (http://spyderchat.com/forums/showthread.php?21310-How-to-Fix-Ears-or-Installing-A-Top-Strap&highlight=strap) should help with the top strap then, take a look at the photos and see if they are of the same thing.  If not, I'm not quite sure what it might be.

The connector you have described is from a hardtop cable.

Follow {url=http://www.mr2roc.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=46435]THIS[/url] and see if it helps identify it.

Do you have a hardtop?

Hi,
Thanks for the info,no I do not have a hard top,the two previous lady owners may have though.
Regarding the small strap I found by the passenger side drain,I have also found one on the drivers side and I have found their male counterparts on some flaps. How you manage to connect them in the confined area I haven't a clue.Does not seem detrimental so may give up on them unless others know otherwise. These staps are only about a half inch wide (oops gave my age away) and are not the ones for the ears, which are present but don't appear to be doing their job.
