I have searched but I cannot find the answer to this. I need a second key for my '2, but I baulk at the price of a new key. Is this on eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-2-BUTTON-REMOTE-ALARM-UNCUT-KEY-FOB-LOCK-UNLOCK-electronics-internal-/181566029868?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2a462dc02c) the right part?
It says it is used, but as i understand it, I can use the teaching process to add even pre-used key electronics to the car.
I have checked at my local Timpsons and they will cut the blade for £15, so this would work out much cheaper than a brand new key!
You need the toy41 blank.....its wider than the one in your link.

Adding a second hand key is not a problem......instructions are on here somewhere,i have Toyota instructions here if you want a copy posted out....theres a procedure for the locking and another for the immobiliser.
I actually did two extra keys a few months back......i used the inners that were grey on the battery side,worked fine on a face lift car.
I know some older fobs have black inners and there 3 different makes....Denso,Valeo and tokai rica....i THINK they are all compatible but not 100% certain....i stuck to the grey inners that was in my original key...have a look inside your own.

The key in your link is in Bulgaria......you should be able to pick one up closer to home for around £20 plus the blank i linked.

I bought a new key from Chris at CTP/GSP and the remote buttons coded in OK, but the immobiliser will not code. s:( :( s:(
After some email discussion with Chris I ended up taking the car and keys to my local Mr T for them to do it with the plug-in computer rather than the brake dance method, but they reported that they couldn't code the new key as my existing key is not a master (despite it being black with buttons). It appears that someone has previously coded it to the immobiliser system as a valet key. Mr T's solution to the problem is a new ECU, new Immobiliser box, new keys and probably new lock barrels, which will cost more than the car is worth. s:( :( s:( s:( :( s:(
So, I am asking you good people, who probably know more than Mr T, is there any way that my new key can be added to the system, and preferably set my current key as a master, without spending thousands of pounds?
If you have to get a new ecu and chip I have one I took out of my car when I did the 2zz conversion and kept one chip spare ther chip was a master one
That is a distinct possibility, and thanks for the offer. Is an ECU swap easy? Does it need anything else to be synchronised with it?
I will spend a little longer trying to get the current collection of parts working together, but I may come back to you.

Got a couple fobs dont know if they can be used?
The chip is in the key and its the chip your trying to programme
Ah - so transponder=chip in key? I guess that makes sense.
Tomaky, thanks for the offer, but the issue is that I don't have a master key for my ECU, so I cannot add new keys.
Dave, how much would you want for the ECU and the chip/key?
This guy lost his keys and his auto locksmith was able to sort him out for a couple of hundred quid......he's NE England north Cowton if thats any use.

I think mocelet is trying to avoid the "few hundred quid" route, but might be worth getting a quote as you may be able to find a cheaper auto lock smith?

Better than £1500-2000 from Toyota......its not gonna be fixed for nothing.......considering £188+vat included a key don't think you would find much cheaper,bargain if you ask me.

Definitely want to avoid the thousand of pounds option (ie Toyota's solution), but a couple of hundred pounds is tolerable, especially if that included the key (which I already have). I have PMd the guy in the other thread to find out who he used. I contacted one local locksmith last week and am still waiting for a call back...
Just curious on what happened with your original key that you can't add another..........was it programmed using the procedure for a valet key,i notice in the instructions theres a slight difference in the number of times the pedal is hit etc.
I can only assume that it was programmed as a valet key by mistake. The key looks to be as old as the car, and if I could prove it was one of the original keys supplied with the car then I could blame Toyota and make them fix it for free, but I have no evidence. Unless someone out there knows of a way to prove this s:) :) s:)

They _are_ reprogrammable, but only if you have a master key to start the process. Or (hopefully) if you have a box of tricks that plugs into the OBD port and does magic.
Good news to report; CarKeyPro came up to my house and after dismantling the ECU and reprogramming the memory chip, both of my keys are now master keys, and work as intended. Total cost was £210 (inc VAT).
The service was speedy, very professional, and they came to me, so no complaints at all.
Price sounds reasonable good result.
