As some of you already know, I'm now trying to source a new engine for my car, since mine has burst into a spectacular ball of white smoke... s:evil:  s:evil:
Anyway, I believe that if there's a right time to perform a 2ZZGE swap this must be it. s:) :) s:) My problem is that I am a very "deceivable" person, mainly due to my almost total lack of mechanical knowledge. s:oops:  s:oops: So, can you please help me to compile a list of the parts I'll need and any special tasks that'll have to be performed? FYI my car is a 2000 M/T LHD.
So far this is all I can come up with: s:oops:  s:oops:
2ZZGE Engine with ECU (Complete and ready to work)
Help is highly appreciated. s:D :D s:D
Go to w www.spyderchat.com (http://www.spyderchat.com) w
In the forums, go to the library, and there you will find a complete "how-to" for fitting the 2ZZ to your car.
Everything from how to modify the engine mounts, where to send your gear selector shaft, and which wired to alter on the ECU are covered.
I'll take this opportunity to ask two questions I'm still wondering about...
I have a TRD flywheel and clutch for 1ZZ...can these be used with 2ZZ?
Do you have to remove the engine below the car like with previous MR2's?
Thanks GSB. Read everything and it does sound like a lot of work... s:roll:  s:roll: I have to think about this... s:? :? s:?

I think it will be less work in the long run...you probably have to do this swap only one instead of replacing 1ZZ's every few years s;) ;) s;)

It starts making sense after reading this: http://www.m-msport.com.au/Downloads/2zzGE%20Engine.pdf
It's interesting that the main design targets for the 1ZZFE are:
1. To reduce exhaust emissions and improve fuel economy without extra systems. (i.e. direct injection)
2. To make compact and lightweight

I beleive the answer is Yes if using teh stock 5 speed box.
Yes teh engine needs to come out of teh bottom.
I guess I'll have to try to convince someone who's already done this to visit me in Portugal... s:wink:  s:wink:
Another basic 2ZZ question...it has a lower rev limit when cold, right?
Anyone remember where? I suppose before the lift point...?
So if I was to fake the engine temp sensor to read low, I could awake that lower limit, right?

Out of my experience, when engine/oil is cold (ie isnt heated up), your lift wont engage and rev limit will come around 6,900 rpm - that might not be 100% accurate, but is as much as I remember... Why would you want to do this though?
Just as a quick aside, I know we don't have lift in the 1zzy engine, so am i doing much damage to the engine if i rev high before the engines warmed up?

if you rev any engine too high when cold, which will have cold oil therefore not protecting the engine, it will lead to considerable high wear rate...
Can one get "EU" OBD-II to work on Asian import 2ZZ-GE? Does EU/US ECU work with J-Spec engine?
...it should be "transparent", so the thread about some OBD readers working with J-spec ecu doesn't help here... s:? :? s:?
