Title: The '2 with 3S-G(T)E
Post by: Tem on September 30, 2004, 10:45
Anyone remember who had 3S-G(T)E in their '2? Or links to any pages about this?

Patrick 'Rogue' Mortell is about to embark on a 3S-GTE install into one of his MR-S' (also going to be fitted with the Veilside widebody kit at the sametime) although this is probably going to be a part-time project as his MkII business keeps him busy most of the time.

I remember ages ago I found 3.  A Red & Yellow in Japan and a white one in Malaysia.

Sorry, my 99.9% Guaranteed up-time seems to have experienced it's 0.1% downtime today.

As compensation, here's an MR2ROC exclusive for you:

You've mounted the engine the wrong way round too.

I think to have it operate from the otherside all you need to do is change the shifter shaft and possibly extend the shifter cables if they don't reach.

Eh?

It's a 3SGTE - the inlet and exhaust manifolds are on the oposite sides of the engine compared to the 1ZZ & 2ZZ

But on the GT300 they mount it the other way around.  That is what I was getting at.

We've looked into it quite extensively, and are aware that the engine is mounted 180 degrees around in the GT300 series cars. I've read an article somewhere that says it's possible to make a 3SGTE run backwards, but we figured just getting the thing in a mk3 was complicated enough!

Having put together a 1ZZFE turbo recently I'm beginning to worry about how this car will behave will all that power. I'll probably have to spring load my right foot to keep me from going to fast.   s:lol:  s:lol:

[Goes off to order Racelogic TRC]

There are gearboxes for the 3S series engines that are used in FR layour cars like the Altezza.  Still that would be too much of a headache IMO.

I had some pics of the malasian yellow 3S-GE MR-S.  If I can find them on the other PC I will post them.  It was not that pretty IIRC.  It was an ugly conversion.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question but why half an MRS? Does it bolt to0 the front half or are you just using half for convenience to test the installation?

It is purely for testing the fitment.

There is absolutley no way you could connect the back in front.  It would never drive in a straight line
