Hi, I am going to completely remove my aerial.
does anyone have any good ideas on something to block the hole in the wing? A bung that fits, or similar?
thanks.
No. But if you come across something that works (other than filling and spraying it), I would be really interested. It's something I have been considering myself. My aerial is pants, and I've been thinking of one of those internal boosted ones.
I'm not going to fill and spray, I'd sooner leave it in.
Hoping to find s rubber blank or something
You could just use a bee sting roof aerial and remove the screw in aerial
Are the bee-sting ones powerful?

Not a bad idea
Classic Minis have holes in the scuttle for both LH and RH wipers, and you can get blanking plugs for the holes you are not using. I used one of these to blank the aerial hole in the wing of the Mini I had years ago. Something like this: w www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/380829703173 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/380829703173) w
Don't know if that would be the right size, and it might need a bit of a bend putting on it to match the panel shape around the aerial hole, but for a few pounds it might be worth a try.

Thanks for that. That's the kind of thing that I am thinking of. Just looking for a picture of a roadster with the aerial removed.
Just to throw a spanner in the works , the hole is not round but a oval
with flat sides.
But have a look on ebay and one of these blanking grommet kits may have one that fit m http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw= ... l&_sacat=0 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=blanking+grommets&_from=R40&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xblanking+grommets+oval&_nkw=blanking+grommets+oval&_sacat=0) m

That's the kind of thing I was thinking too. It's a shame it's an awkward size and position.
Plan is to remove it, measure it and find something to fit. Because my car isn't in use, it can be done without driving round looking like a plonker
I took the rubber boot off the old aerial and then put a grommet into that, leaving a nice "OEM" looking blank. You can then either knock up a fixing underneath or bond it onto the wing with something like Tigerseal.

Quite a neat solution, thanks
Mr Hamspeed, I'm going to do your trick; did you use the bonding technique?
+1. Very smart and innovative. Looks like you'll have a copy-cat in Kent s:D :D s:D

Fin, I've done it today, go to Halfords and get a pack of "Aerial Grommets" for £1.79

Use the smallest (19mm) and plug the top

I think it looks neat.
Just need to bond it onto the car now s:) :) s:)
Thanks to Mr Hamspeed

Missed this, glad you got it sorted... s:P :P s:P I have bonded mine on with Tigerseal, a thin bead around the inside where it mounts onto the wing and a thick bead underneath for some additional strength.
Thanks I'll do the same
Excellent!! Quick trip to Halfrauds tomorrow then s:D :D s:D
