Title: sony double din
Post by: kanesam on February 11, 2015, 13:18
Hey guys pretty new here just a quick question regarding the head unit.

I have a pre facelift mr2 with the sony headunit and I have just bought a new head unit..  m http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00A ... 5A1OLE#Ask (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00AYQPRXK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE#Ask) m

I have been looking through the threads and it seems like all will be good with fitting in the space but I was just wondering will I need to buy any adaptor wiring too as I'm switching from sony to sony, some threads say I won't need to, others say I will.

Any help will be much appreciated, thanks

Kane

Great unit that one....i have one myself.I fitted mine to a facelift (replacing the fisher price unit..lol) and needed the PC2-17-4 iso adaptor, they are only £2.50 each, not sure about the pre facelift,i'm guessing it might be a straight swap as you say they are both Sony.....you should be able to check out the wiring with the radio still in place.

Agree, it's a great little unit. I have one in my PFL. I can confirm that it does need an adaptor for the PFL as well.

Search PC2-17-4 on ebay or Amazon.........they start at £2.39 upwards, don't think theres much difference in them tbh,i just bought the cheapest one, worked fine......good time to put a switch in for the aerial, you can use the aerial feed wire on the adaptor to save cutting into the original wiring,

Thanks guys, massive help!
I'll get one ordered.
It was actually your post that convinced me to get that unit mark, after much debating.
I also saw your post on the aerial switch def something I'll look at.
