Hi everyone,
Bit of advice if possible.
I've had a 03 plate roadster now for about 4 weeks and have recently experienced, I believe a clutch issue a couple of times now, but it appears to be getting worse.
When i'm moving off at lights or whatever, the revs go up gradually fine and I move off, but if I put my foot down a bit (over 2500) the revs wildly spin up to about 4500/5000, but without the power going to the wheels.
Im thinking its potentially the flywheel slipping on the clutch plate. Any other suggestions are more than welcome though.
My question is how much of a ba****d is the clutch to get to, whether its easier to have a clutch specialist do it, and rough idea of cost from anyone thats had similar work done.
Thanks for any assistance.
Sounds like your clutch is slipping, quite straight forward as far as clutch replacements go; at least nothing out of the ordinary.
Should you go to a professional? Only you can answer that; how competent are you, do you have the correct tools?
Where are you based, maybe someone can suggest a reliable mechanic locally
I'm not very competent with the tools unfortunately.
Im based in Surrey. Can anyone recommend in the Epsom, Leatherhead, Kingston area?
Is Uxbridge too far for you?
It is a little bit i'm afraid, especially with the clutch how it is. The cars in for its MOT today, and its passed with flying colours, but I am going to get the garage to inspect it, if they get time.
MrT will charge you the thick end of £700 so look for a small independant if you don't have the facilities or inclination to do the job yourself.
