Does the PFL have a single key with Central locking fob built in, or are they separate?
Mine are seperate, and whilst the central locking fob looks genuine toyota, the installation is less than "factory fit" s:scared: :scared: s:scared:
Is your car a import if so that's why
UK car, which makes it more perplexing....
Could it have an aftermarket alarm fitted?
Pics of the key and remote might be useful.
As far as I am aware should be a key with 2 buttons on it but mine is an 06 so maybe it's different.

If I had to guess, I would say there is s small slot at the bottom of that 'fob', just between the 2 screws holding it together.
Looks an awful lot like a broken key to me, they are a bit weak where the blade enters the fob.
Thats just where I've pulled it apart to change the battery in the fob and haven't clipped it together again
That looks like the wrong key fob it's off a later car and the ignition key is a aftermarket one
No I agree with Fin, the fob is the same as a normal roadster key, just without the blade sticking out the the bottom.
It looks like your key is one of those timpsons cheap replacements or something.
Are you sure the fob did t used to incorporate the key blade too because if so, that would be a normal roadster key / central locking unit

I don't think the key can be changed unless it has the chip for the immo in the fob best bet would be first strip the key so it's just the blade then put the chip holding bit to one side then try starting the car with the key but have the fob very close to the key. If that works get a proper key cut. Timpsons do them for £20. You can always get a secondhand fob off egay and reprogramme it

My pfl had two keys when I bought it.
One master key with two buttons and one valet key with no buttons.
The master key blade was breaking away from the fob and so, following a suggestion on here, I got a flip key from eBay and fitted the original blade and " electronics " into the new flip case.
The OP pictures shows a key that is nothing like my keys and a fob with a pictogram of an opening boot! I do not believe this was ever OE for a 2 and is something that has been put together from " available" bits.
I suggest a flip case from eBay would be the lowest cost way to go.
Oh and milknbeans is Milton Keynes but you may not want to go there as it is not an easy place to find your way around or out of once within its maze of roadways, gives the directionally challenged a severe work out s:wink: :wink: s:wink:

I'm beginning to think it's a cheapo key. Pulled it apart, there's a battery and stuff inside, so the next part is blade only to see if the immobiliser has been bypassed.
I'll then start to go down the rabbit hole of the central locking; Just another thought - did the standard immobiliser/central locking give a visual indication on arm/disarm?
