Only done 8,000 miles but that year certainly came round quickly...
Service OK but parts on order for......
Condensation in rear light clusters
Rattles in door or speakers
Vibration from rear end at low revs
A "kit" for the lights, 2 speakers for the rattles and as the vibration was from a loose baffle in the exhaust, an exhaust system back box. I asked them to square up the tale pipes (again) but they came out worse but hey, the whole lot has to come out anyway so they can try again.
Good news on the crap fitting of the bumper extensions, they have ordered a new set and will try again. The guy said they are stuck on with sticky pads? That can't be right can it?
Anyway intermediate service £36:00, £24.79 for oil plus consumables and sundries brings the total to £87:86 plus vat

Howard, can you describe the vibration at low revs?
I get a graunchy sound under load (fine under idle) at around 1k - 1.5k revs. When the car has warmed up doesn't seem to do it as much.
Wondered if yours was the same sort of thing? My first service is not due until March (I doubt I'll hit the mileage before then) and wondered whether it was worth mentioning anything now or leave it until then.
Cheers
Steve
The vibration happens at about the revs you mention, it is very easy to replicate, just drive at 15-20 mph, put it in 3rd gear and put your foot down. As the engine labours the exhaust baffles produce this throaty vibration/noise. My girlfriend thought it sounded quite sexy s:) :) s:) I have the TTE twin pipes though, do you s:?: :?: s:?:
Whatever, its worth having it looked at
Cheers
Thanks for the info. The way you mention to reproduce it certainly makes it sound like the same problem. It's normally under load when the engine doesn't have enough free power so labours a bit.
Mine is still the standard exhaust, but interestingly, I have been contacted by another owner with a H&S exhaust that has the same sounds happening around those revs. I'll ask the dealer about it next time I'm there.
In answer to the rest of your post, the price of the service sounds good s:) :) s:) I vaguely recall reading the bumper extensions were stuck on, but I could be wrong. Have a quick search on here and you might find the answer you are looing for.
Hi all!
I also have the ratttle when pulling off at low revs, which seems less noticable when the engine is warm. Currently done 4500 miles, first servide due in May, exhaust is standard fit.
I used to have a Peugeot 405 diesel s:oops:  s:oops: (did I just admit that?) this had the same problem, and a friend advised me it was the exhaust. He was wrong, and I eventually pinned it down to the timing belt tensioner, and when I changed it the engine was back to its clattery norm.
From reading this forum I note that the MR2 timing belt tensoner is prone to problems, could this be the cause?
It doesen't bother me much so I will wait until the service to bring it up.
there isn't a timing belt as such in the mr2 as far as I recall, it's chain driver. I guess it could be the cam chain.
