I went drag racing for the first time this sunday at Circuito do Estoril here in Portugal. Did a small clip of my performance... Can someone host it for me? 4.28Mb WMV
Thanks in advance.
P.S.: I've already uploaded it to my own site, but the bandwidth is just too narrow, and it takes ages to download it.
Edit: Tem is hosting the file (thanks!) here http://koti.mbnet.fi/temmeke/vids/MR2.wmv
Someone? s:( :( s:(
m http://www.spydermagazine.com/ (http://www.spydermagazine.com/) m
and click "file library" on the left.
I've tried that, but maybe the file is too large? The upload fails... I'll try from home later on.
Thanks anyway! s:) :) s:)
I give up... Can't upload the file to Spydermagazine.com, WMV files are not allowed.
I'd appreciate if someone is willing/able to help me out.

s:D :D s:D Thanks for making this happen Tem! s:D :D s:D I've sent the clip. Have you received it?
s:wink:  s:wink: I'm not into drag racing myself. Only went there to waste a couple of hours, but was amazed at how good the 2 performed, s:shock:  s:shock: so I want to share it with the club.
Thanks!
It's here s8) 8) s8)

Hope you guys and gals like it. My car is completly stock (except for the painted calipers and the J-spec logos) so I was very surprised to see that I could beat a modified Honda Civic 3 door 1.6 VTEC (CAI, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, headwork, piggyback ECU, no cats, free-flow exhaust, etc...). He had at least 160HP (stock), so I'm assuming that I just won because of the inherent advantage the mid-engined RWD cars have over FWD when it comes to delivering the power to the road.
Nicely Done s:) :) s:)
Was the guy you were racing fat?

Or did you take your luggage bags out??? s:wink:  s:wink:
Perhaps somebody in the know can give us a bhp per tonne figure for the 2 vs Civic, might make a difference?
roger
well what car says its 1200KG, so at 160bhp i work that out as 133bhp/ton, and the mr2 at about 140 bhp/ton+RWD.
Thats why you won,
[Flame suit] I knew black was the fastest colour s8) 8) s8) [/Flame suit]
I did leave my luggage bags home... s:wink:  s:wink: As well as the hardtop, the spare tire, the spare tire lid and loads of junk that were lying around in the car.
I'm a bit fat s:oops:  s:oops: (94Kg) and the other driver was a lot slimmer than me.
The '2 is wicked! s:twisted:  s:twisted:

I'll second that s:wink:  s:wink:
Although mine is more of a very dirty black at the momement - damn that rubbish they keep smearing over the roads s:evil:  s:evil:
Black is the quickest, fact.
so.simple, what were your times then?
Bear in mind that Circuito do Estoril is not a drag strip and so this quarter mile is slightly uphill.
I still don't have the official times, because I had to leave before the event was over. The time announced after my first run (the one on the video) was 15,58 seconds vs 15,98 for the Civic. The official times will be published on the organizer's website: http://www.dragracingshow.com/eventos/dez45/index_45.htm under "Lista de Tempos". They should be there by next monday.
According to this list "http://monkeywrenchracing.com/1-4miletimes/1-4milemr2s.htm" 15,58 it's definetly not an amazing time...

I'd say it is a pretty good time. Looking at that list there are only 4 stock cars that were quicker and then only by a few tenths of a second. And as you say it was up hill.

Most of the cars on that list are from US though...meaning they have faster gearing, but no LSD. Can't really compare to them:?
wonder how a uk spec '2 woould compare to j-spec '2 with its closer ratio gearbox.
Official times came out this thursday... My video clip seems to be wrong!?!
Even though I clearly cross the finish line with half a car advance, I'm being quoted the same time as the other guy...
http://www.dragracingshow.com/eventos/dez45/classe_04.htm
My car is number 760 and the other is the 315. The run on the video is with me on track A and him on track B. I don't get it.

they may be quoting ETs.......the total amount of time it takes from tripping the start light until the finish light is tripped.......if they were going by ETs than it wouldn't matter who crossed the line first.....

You're right. They were just quoting ET's. I now what that is, but what does "ET" stands for?
Quote from: "so.simple"what does "ET" stands for?
End Time...meaning the time it takes from start to finish, but not including your reaction time.
You are a living encyclopedia, Tem! Thanks!
Oh, well... Guess I'll just have to re-edit my clip. s:wink:  s:wink:
