Title: Aftermarket 15" on PFL
Post by: RubixRonnie on January 25, 2016, 19:09
Hi all,

Haven't been on here for months!
Was thinking about selling over the winter but have decided against it as I just enjoy this car far too much in the summer!
Anyway...this has led me to decide to upgrade the car somewhat, starting with some aftermarket 15" alloys.
I was going to get the standards refurbed but for the cost of that i thought feck it!

So, can anyone recommend what to do in as much as I want to buy 2 fronts and 2 separate rears in order to keep the OEM stagger I currently have.
Is this an option? Or would I just have to buy wider tyres after buying same width alloys all round?

Any help/links would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Danny

If you got for after market alloys you want something light which is a virtue of the stock wheels.
May i ask what you have been quoted for refurb because i wouldnt have thought you would get a decent set for £70 a wheel which is around what you would pay for refurbishment.

Wheels on my list have been:
team dynamics pro race 1.2
Eneki rpf1

Both light the eneki exceptionally so and very expensive.

You could always look for some nice secondhand ones and if your lucky get some staggered ones. I got really lucky and found some Elise wheels and tyres very very cheap but they are 16 front and 17 rear so cheap tyre options as they are popular sizes

Thanks for the responses!
Its not so much about cost to be honest i just want a change from the norm
I've been quoted £45 a corner from a trusted and highly rated refurb place in my area, which I'd have done tomorrow, but like I said I'm thinking of a change
I suppose my question was more can I buy 2 alloys of one width and 2 of another?

You could but its finding a wheel that is done in different widths

hmmmm yeah I'm guessing so.
The bonus from a monetary point is I dont want 17's or anything, they were on when I bought the car (same width all round) flaming myself for mentioning it haha!
They were swiftly whipped off and sold
What width for front and what width for rear would you recommend?
I'm currently running 185/55/15 on the front and 205/55/15 on the rear (standard)

195/205 on mine, standard pfl 15's.
I'd still prefer understeer, so I'd keep the backs 10-20mm wider.

nothing wrong though running same size all round.

Is same size all round only an issue when running anything larger than 15"'s then..........let the flaming commence!

Its personal choice, it changes the handling a bit.

quite a few run the fl 16" rears back and front.

Yeah, I've just found 4 x Team Dynamics Pro-Race 1.2's with staggered (195 Front, 205 Rear) Falkens (what I run now on my stock wheels and love) for £500
Very tempted and it is nearly bonus time after all haha!

I suppose my question was more can I buy 2 alloys of one width and 2 of another?

Demon Tweeks sold me my current staggered set of Rota GT3's 2x 16" rears & 2x 15" fronts no problem

They are what matt used to fit as sp12 just in 17s with custom offset and width.
