Sorry to say, but I couldn't find an MR2 that felt right, so I am off to the land of four doors and a boot...
...with a twist
Let the flaming begin... RX8!
Haha! Fair enough dude.
Best of luck with your bimonthly services s:) :) s:)
Always had a soft spot for the RX-8 to be honest hehehe.
Don't be a stranger. Always welcome back

Thanks for all your help Shnazzle, and everyone else who answered Q's for me
Not sure Mrs has worked out my fuel bills just doubled!
You'll need a standing order set up with The Oilman !!
A very different propostition.
Best of luck with those big bills. Fuel and oil least of your worries.
I will wave as i pass you in the corners. s:) :) s:)
Always liked them but reliability and running costs scared me away. You get a lot of car for your money, hopefully you have found a nice example. Don't give up hope of finding a nice mr2 there are still a few out there.
enjoy every time you put fuel in to be putting oil in as well s:shock:  s:shock:
hope you find what you looking for and enjoy s:) :) s:)

You won't pass me in the corners, I'll be stopped on the straight with the bonnet up!
Best of luck with the RX8! Out of interest... Wouldn't one of these be cool with a different engine?? Something that didn't flood if you moved the car and didn't let it warm up maybe...?

Cheers, and you're right. Several out there with LS1 V8s, but if I can live with the "character" of the car, it should be ok.
One way I know I'm my father's son, is the sleepless night I'm about to have!
My poor old dad used to suffer terribly with this, just buying family saloons! Not sure what he'd do if he was buying one of these, he'd be saying "how can it have needed a new engine at 64,000miles?" and "how did it depreciate by 90% in ten years?"
Probably gonna get Mrs VX to film him when I tell him about 18mpg, hope he doesn't keel over!
Survived first weekend
Foster lad almost closed the back door onto the front door! Good save from MrsVX
No explosions, no flooding, no nonstarts, all good
Wife back to work, Foster lad back to his work placement, me - out for a blast (in the rain, by the looks of it...)
I'm back! (I guess I never really went away...)
Red 02 Roadster, 50k miles, nice drive home
Glad to be out of the rx8, just wasn't for me!
s:lol:  s:lol: Haha, welcome back! Glad you've come to your senses s:) :) s:)
Haha. Welcome back. They all try....

Just checking back to see if I ever posted "blue, the best colour" my last time around...
Welcome back
That should make your dad happy again as well!

If you could see the worry lines on his face you'd know he'll find something to worry about!
...probably stressing about how red paint fades badly, or something.
Genuinely pleased to be back in a '2, best decision I've made in a long time.
What didn't you like about the rx8? I've been looking at these recently. Would be interesting to hear from an mr2 owner.
Drove really nice, mostly positive attention, but doors were a pain on our steep driveway. I just didn't bond with it really...
BOSE over-rated and difficult to upgrade
Thanks for that. Like the look of the pz version. Might have to get a test drive in one.
If you can live with the fuel economy (low 20s is about normal) and you are not prepared to skimp on servicing then you should be good
I would also suggest you read up on the potential pitfalls when buying
A good friendly site is the UK RX8 Owners Club. I wont post a link as I'm not sure if its allowed.
I do miss mine and I actually regret selling it (2006 PZ).... so decided on the next best thing. Im going to fit an RX8 engine into MR2. As far as I can gather this would be the first of its type in the UK
And probably the last!

When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant, I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21,
I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years.

This quote really made me laugh, not sure if I saw it first time around?
This year hasn't been great (not just for me!)
I sold the MR2 in January, bought a Golf GTI as I needed four seats, as my wife was ill and had to give up driving. Dad passed away in July, from dementia. Been working my arse off due to covid (I work with kids in care, so they've had loads of time off) and ironically I found this thread as I'm looking to get back into an RX8!

Sympathies and condolences.
Is this really the time to be looking at rotary engines?
A nice dependable straight 6 would be better.
Good luck with your search.

You've got your rose coloured glasses on again, even if your eyes are wide open, but if it makes you happy why not!
I was really tempted by the RX8 as a company car (we had 'em on a special deal), but not sure I'd want to own one and live with the rotor tip worry...
