Title: MR2 Mk3 weight
Post by: HusbandsMR2 on February 28, 2016, 16:14
Having come from a Lotus Forum I'm of course obsessed with weight. My inclination is to disbelieve any manufacturers figures (especially Lotu:-) - has anyone on here actually weighed their car properly?

Was that full tank - any gubbins? AC?

As a guide my bog standard Elise S1 (early lightweight) was 700 kgs but to get there I had to throw out the hood and carpets and have 1 gallon in the tank;-)

1/2 a tank if I remember correctly and yep with A/C. An early version stripped out you'll probably looking at 900kg or a little less.

Yes it's interesting - almost a good thing for Lotus that they stopped making it as the Elise S with the same engine was up to near as damn 900 kgs...

Front TRD strut brace
Turbo kit so no heavy oem exhaust and cat.
Half tank of fuel and of few kg of stuff in the glove box and cubbies.

Without being funny Scott. Were you also in the car?
Was your car weighted for just you driving?

It was weighted with a man of similar weight in the drivers seat.
Doesnt include that extra weight.
Its about right in my mind take off the 25kg for the hardtop.
Add the turbo and intercooler.
Loose the massively heavy stock exhaust and cat.
God knows what the frenzy bar weighs.
Pretty sure facelift cars are over the ton.
