hi,
im new. just wanna ask a few questions. looking to get an mr2 within the next 6 months when ive saved up a bit more money to put down toward it.
so:
anyone here 19 with 1 years no claims.? how much was insurance and with who? best so far is elephant £1800 for 10 months f/c.
whats the difference between the imports and the uk spec cars?
and whats a realistic power figure to be had from tuning the car without playing with the internals too much?

Slightly off topic: My son will be 19 in May and he's hoping to get on my insurance over a weekend every now and then when he's home from uni. s:shock:  s:shock: s:? :? s:? s:evil:  s:evil: The insurance company refused when he was 18.

True, But i'm 23 with 4 years NCB and i'm paying £640 through Elelphant. I'm on a 12month policy and Kerrie has a 10 month BTW
Im 26 and no paying about £450 with elephant i found adding my girlfriend as a second driver took nearly £100 off the insurance, same with another family member whos elephant insurance on his accord type r went down when he added his girlfriend ...
Same here. We are both on each others policies and it reduced the quote!
It always reduced the amount if you add the missus as they assume you do half the mileage each and women are deemed safer. My missus has not driven for about fifteen years but is always added onto the policy s:wink:  s:wink: And it may come in handy if you cannot remember who was driving when going through a speed camera. A bloke at work has just got let off as he did not know if it was him or his missus at the wheel; yeh right s:? :? s:?
im 18 with 1 yr ncb with elephant on 2000 imported mrS and i pay £1200. im a girl tho heehee!!!
not alot (if any) difference between uk spec and jap!!!!(the badges are different on the back tho!)

I was with elephant at a reasonable rate.... I left them when they refused to cover me after I fitted the TRD member braces s:roll:  s:roll: s:roll:  s:roll: , hope that they are alright on everyone elses mods..slightly off topic but not if you see what I mean!!?
cheers peeps. doesnt look like im ettig that bad a deal. im 20 in march so im gonna wait till then and get it. save up a bit more and then my insurance should go down. only thing about my quoteis theyve added £200 onto it because i was involved in an accident. nothing to do with me. i got hit up the arse by a pizza hut moped whilst stationary in traffic. when i asked elephant why this was they told me that because id been in the wrong place at the wrong time once, im more likely to have it happen again.

Yer right; insurance find any excuse to add some more on. Its far more likely that you've been unlucky once so have LESS chance to be unlucky again.

Nah, in a purely statistical sense the chances of the second event aren't affected by the first. So he's just as likely the second time around.

But no real justification to bump up the premium by £200 s:shock:  s:shock: That's just British insurance companies for yah s:? :? s:?
