Title: Aerial Motor fault?
Post by: Anonymous on December 21, 2004, 12:32
Uh oh...   s:( :( s:(    what's happening to the motor on my aerial??

When the aerial goes up, the motor keeps going - making a whiring noise. Sometime the aerial will retract again and sometimes I have to give it a hand. Either way, as a result the radio won't work now?

Anybody else had the same problem? is there an easy (for easy - read cheap!) way of fixing the problem?

the floor is open - your feedback is welcomed!   s:D :D s:D

Perhaps it needs lubricating? It could be the aerial isn't extending fully, so the motor keeps whirring, and then when it can't, ahem, get it up fully, ahem, it brings it down again.  s:D :D s:D

I use 3-in-1 light oil and dribble it down the aerial from the top when it's extended, so that it runs into the telescopic joints. Then wipe it off with a rag.

I lubricate mine at least once a month.
